I'm going to buy one or the other.

So far, I'm concerned about the way the running boards appear to mount. From pictures I've seen, they appear to mount against the body paint. Wouldn't moisture collect and eventually rust the body paint?

Any downside to the tube steps (other than expense)?

Should I go with what Toyota sells or something else?

i got aries tubes and i love them....... real easy to install, took me like 15 min my myself in my driveway with just a flat head and a rachet. running boards are too expensive and bulky in my opinion for our truck. go to "realtruck.com" they wont charge you shipping and they gave me a military discount. i got mine to the door for about 160.

I like the tube steps more but if you like both just flip a coin.

I say running boards, I have kids and it helps them get in and out. I was more worried with the tubs that a backpack strap or similar would get caught between the body and the bar causing a nasty scratch.

There is lots of drain holes in the Toyota running board so I would not be worried about water collecting.

I went with running boards because

they bolted right onto the truck using the factory threaded holes already there

they provide protection from door bangers in parking lots

i use them when i wash or polish the truck

i like the chrome and black combo
