    what are the advantages of a tuning chip and which one is best for a 2013 Tacoma 2.7 engine I am in jamaica

    There is no such thing as a "tuning chip", basically the only 2 ways to modify engine parameters is a "piggyback/fooler" that intercepts and modifies signals going in and out of the PCM (more common to see on older vehicles without programable PCM's) or a custom tune written into the PCM with something like HP Tuners but to my knowledge no one has made a tuner for the 2.7 yet.
    Those little "performance units" that are all over Amazon and ebay that plug into the OBD port are nothing more than a box with lights in it.

    As mentioned above, a piggyback ecu like the MAPECU3 (which is what I’m running) or another option would be a standalone ecu like a Haltech elite 1500. Unfortunately HPtuners doesn’t support the 2TR at this time.
