That’s honestly really cool thank you. How much do you think it would cost to do a 4x4 conversion for my taco

Yeah, and a turbo LSX is going to make a bit more power, while also being way more reliable, than your turbo 2.7. Your point?

"Just motor swap it" is the typical autistic answer people give, which has absolutely zero relevance to what the OP was asking. Clearly you missed the point.

I imagine having that turbo must be fun. I can hear a Tacoma or two with turbo once in a great while here, while I'm driving around. Although I think they're the 1st gens.
Most boosted Tacoma's I see or hear of course are supercharged.

It's definitely fun, for sure. It's no race truck by any means, but that's not my intention.
I wanted to do something not many people had done to this truck, while making it more driveable. I thoroughly enjoy the truck now, and will slowly build the truck further.

Don't mean to thread jack but I've also been looking into turboing my 2.7 and I was wondering if anyone knew if the 3rz turbo kit will fit on the 2tr-fe motors. post number 85 states that the 3rz and the 2tr are almost similar but the head is different since the newer motor uses the VVTI. Don't know if anyone can confirm or deny this idea of putting this 3rz tubro kit on the 2tr-fe. I know its hot side only and no tune or cooling.

Different head, so the ports don't line up.
You need an actual 2TR manifold.

Only one right now is from Alibaba.

Only thing I’ve got to add is that if you’re gonna boost a 2TR, it’s best to go ahead and replace the factory head bolts with ARP ones or you may be forced to later. I ruined 2 head gaskets before I figured out this was needed for my setup. Some will say it’s not necessary, but as soon as you’re pushing around 10lbs, I think you’re on borrowed time, or at least my two motors were

Which is just as autistic as comparing a turbo 2.7 to a NA 4.0.

I have owned turbo vehicles for a really long time, and even tuned several myself. I'm not an expert, but I wouldn't trust a 2.7 with a turbo on it long term, at least not without doing a proper build on it, unless you only plan on running 4-6PSI of boost.

As much as I want to boost my Taco, I don't want to land Titanic my 4.0, so I'm going to leave it stock until it dies.
