Meanwhile in the turbo thread it’s possible that I didn’t tighten the o2 sensor when I replaced it. Once I get everything together I’ll know

I may get to work on mine in the next week or so. Gonna Pick up 5 ga of e85 on my way home tomorrow and put in the tank since shr is about dry. May save a little fuel pulling in the tune too.

you can prolly lay a nut directly over the stud and fill the center with weld and use a wrench to get em out... if you don't have an ease out or something

Lessen learned there. Antiseize everything during assembly. Epitome of putting the "FU" in Fun.

This is getting worse because now the extractor is stuck on the first one. I may have to break it off and try to get the other ones out with another extractor or drill the other ones out and retread to a different size

Only thing is there’s thread showing wouldn’t the weld get in the threads the only other thing I can think of is to heat it up with the torch but I’ve already been trying maybe heated up a lot

what size are those bolts? 3/8"? see if you can find a nut that is small enough to fit down in there and set on the stud like a 3/16" is it is a 3/8" stud, the welding will also heat the threads up and may help it break loose as well as giving you something to hold on to (with a socket or wrench not your hand cuz its gonna be hot)

Ok extractor is out I’m thinking hellicoil or re thread
It sounds like a good idea but since I’m pressed for time it looks like I may end up going with helicoil

Ok so the welding went well. I got the bung welded in and re welded the turbo flange. I went with Helicoil to replace the broken studs because that’s just what I’m familiar with and went well on the first one I’ll finish tomorrow pretty sure C723D4BF-1F2B-4580-B3CF-1631C1901951.jpg

OK FELLAS, here's some ethanol/methanol trivia!!!!
I love the idea of running alcohol with our trucks, not only because of the price, but because of the performance given.
Let's assume that all e85 is 85% ethanol with an octane rating of exactly 100 (online sources give 95-110).
Let's also assume that pure methanol has an octane rating of 115.
So I've been crunching some numbers in order to determine what the best mix was for our force inducted trucks AND our wallets.
A mix of 11gal 87 octane and 5gal e85 gives a 91.06 octane mix. This mixture is still 91 octane while costing considerably less money to run on than pump 91 octane (in Colorado anyway) despite the 30% more ethanol fuel used. This mixture is 33.4% ethanol by volume.
I personally have been running 13gal 87 octane and 3gal e85. This gives me 89.4 octane. I am also running water+methanol though.
I have a 1000cc/min nozzle running at close to maximum flow at maximum boost. Considering the stock 240cc/hr fuel injectors are very close to 100% duty cycle, I can safely say that my full boost methanol usage is almost exactly 20% ( 300 [1000 reduced to 300 due to running 30% methanol window washer fluid] is 20% of 1440 (240cc/min x 6). This gives me a BOOST ONLY octane rating of 94.52. This is not considering the virtual octane gained from the addition of water being vaporized and therefore taking away heat from the combustion process.

one problem i see off the bat, is actual pure E85 is pretty much impossible to get, IIRC what most stations sell as E85 is actually more like E50 or E55

Edit: YMMV, but this is the case around me, and theres a whopping two stations that sell it to start with.

In Co, all the stations that sell e85 have signs that say "70% ethanol minimum", so the numbers wouldn't deviate that much.

Fwiw the e85 pumps near me say "min 70% ethanol" also my wife just told me she doesnt think its likely that a snail could fall into an engine bay and get sucked through the motor and come out with super speed

nice. i think around me its just not popular because, for about the same price as premium gas, theres 8 stations that sell 110 octane leaded and unleaded race gas at the pump. perks of living near a popular drag strip :burnrubber::yes:
