Hahah that power curve was more like a wall! My old STI started with an AMR 30r equivalent, but then I went with a Precision 6265 to meet my power goals, but spool was sacrificed. The car was very much a lightswitch, but you had to beat the balls off it to see boost, and by that time you were doing 60+ anyways. Made it not fun to street around in.

Yep. Why I never went larger do to being a daily driver. Only way to get a big turbo to work on the street is brake boost. As trees that's beating on it. Lol. With the small turbo and awd I could destroy many high hp vehicles on the street. Mainly domestic rwd cars with supercharger. 600whp but no way to use it.

Exactly. Brake boosting became my best friend very quickly lol. I'm happy with the choice of the 2871 for this truck, as it's my daily, and want it to be fun. I'll figure out where I run out of injector/pump and then save up some for an E85-compatible setup. Realistically I'd like to see 300-ish WHP.

I'm jelly. I want to swap a 2.7 into my 4runner. 4runners guys would freak out if I went to a smaller motor. Lol

All the more reason to do it. Reactions are my soul purpose for living lol

I'm turboing this because so many people said I couldn't. I mean, of course that's not the main reason, but it's just adding more fire to my build progress. I told myself, "I'll gather the parts and install everything in the spring." Yeahhhh about that- I'm on track to install around Thanksgiving hahaha

Then they'd freak even more if it were built, making 600-1000 hp. :D
All of that is like a motivational speech. Drives me to prove them wrong as well. Giving them the proverbial finger. Or emoji >>>:luvya:

I think the 2.7 is the way to go if you’re building boost. The 5vz will make more power for less money until about 400 hp when you start getting into the cost of upgrading internals and heads. There is no aftermarket for 5vz heads either so you’d be custom.

That being said, a 5vz with forged pistons and pauter rods would be fucking disgusting.

appreciate the sentiment dude, but I am but a lowly sponge, shirt tailing it off everyone else in here basically... everything I know is because of the other people in this thread, well about turbos anyway, I am starting a separate cooking channel youtube haha

Did that new clamp end up getting rid of your exhaust leak entirely?

pre... I prolly have a little post because I couldn't fit a v band on the down pipe and it still fit through the limited space available so the muffler is just a slip fit with a u exhaust clamp on it, but I don't care post turbo
