Can someone compare the AEM FIC to MAP-ECU3. The AEM FIC can manage AFR too?

The AEM can do O2, MAF, Fuel skewing. You clamp the MAF voltage and use the on board MAP sensor to convert to speed density. This allows you to compensate for the added boost. Skewing your O2 and fuel signals allow you to tune for closed loop. It also allows you to run 2 maps, as I will be doing once I have injectors and fuel pump... It'll be an E85 map, and a 93 map that is toggled with a switch you wire in. The ignition can be retarded only, not advanced... But for boost you're pulling timing anyways. It'll allow you to run larger injectors, and the built-in data logging is nice.

I know virtually nothing about the MAPECU3 unfortunately... Sorry!

Mapecu 3 works by maf intercept to control primary injectors. You can add features like knock sensor, e85 analyzer, nos/or meth injection switch.
Both are close to the same and depends on what you are looking for. Mapecu3 does have a few more add ons you can do. AEM is more your straight forward fuel and timing adjustments.

MAP-ECU3 can also do maf delete, and be tuned soley by a MAP sensor.

    Thanks
I’m reading the F/IC-6 only has one map, F/IC-8 has two maps. This is still correct?

The FIC-6 does in fact support 2 maps (dual calibration). This is achieved by the SW IN wire (white) on the harness.

Essentially the same on the AEM. it still has to stay installed, as it uses it for IAT...but the metering portion is ignored once it's clamped.

The temperature went up in the 90’s today and the truck runs worse with the AFR’s still going lean on acceleration or after shifting. It just seems like there is a faulty part considering others have run this same setup without this problem :notsure:

.......and I just lowered the boost from 7 to 5psi and it’s still leaning out on accelerated sometimes and afr’s are the same 12.8-13.5

With the MAP-ECU, yes. I do not know about the AEM FIC. Their high models, that is a yes.

On the FIC-6, no you can't. The factory computer is still looking at it for voltages. You're only clamping the max voltage it sees, and allowing more air past it. It uses the MAP sensor to then tune. I believe you can do MAF delete on the FIC-8, along with 2step and other cool stuff.

Well yes, but most people are built for full E85. Plus, the truck will advance timing as much as it can, to an extent. With the FIC, a value of zero on the ignition table will allow the truck to operate as if the FIC wasn't connected. I know on 87 fuel bone stock, my timing is usually advanced about 29°. Haven't reset and ran premium to see if it advances more though.

Overall, it seems like the MAP-ECU3 is a better choice if you want to go full on racecar lol.

So at wot and high rpm your at a max timing of 29*? If so than yes pulling timing is needed. Lol. I'm used to working with timing maps from stock turbo cars.

My motor NA i saw a top end of almost 30. With boost the motor is pulling a lot more maybe because of the higher calculated load. I'll try to get some logs posted up next month.
I know when I'm spooling I'm sitting about 10* and this is just the stock ecu. I think I top out around 15* to 17* at 10 psi.

That's crazy. Usually under boost and open loop the timing map must change. I don't see how the stock ecu for NA car would pull that much timing just adding boost. I'm not that smart. Lol.

I'm thinking the stock ecu map is 3d.
    Think it is load dependent.
