Is that aluminum? If so, you did damn good son.

This thread is soon to turn into a beginners to welders' porn thread.

6061 aluminum for both the pipe and Treadstone MAF flange.
Little more welding to be done for the piping, but I'm so swamped with work that I barely get any free time!

I put in 10 more gal of e85 and tried 10 psi boost. I could feel the difference in power but the afr’s were 12.00-12.5

I use argon with a gas lens, and also back purge with argon if I’m welding tubing. I would only go to helium if I was doing a lot of aluminum.

That probably made a big difference in power! Sounds like somewhere aroun 9 is good on your AFR’s. I need to put my higher psi spring back in now with these 440s to get a little more boost going as well

Only my best and worst critic in the passenger seat tells me the truck is slow (my daughter). Got to stop looking for that 12 sec. 1/4 mile performance I’m cut off for now on mods.

I noticed something tonight when I got home sitting in the driveway. I pumped the brakes and it made the afr’s go up. If I pump them hard the idle would go down. So time to relocate the main vac source from the brake booster to somewhere else. Also with these 440 cc injectors when the engine is cold it bogs off idle until it’s warm. I wonder if the vacuum source has been causing problems lus I guess I’ve been forcing boost into the booster.

Bone stock, if you pump the brakes you'll see the AFR go lean. Completely normal behavior, as you're changing the vacuum.

also any of you 2tr guys (or anyone I guess) know if the OVtune will be available for it? that seems to be like it will be a killer option for everyone from here on that doesn't wanna go full stand alone so they don't have to worry really with any cutting/splicing or paying as much for a P&P as they did for a piggy back... too bad it wasn't out like 18 months ago

For the budget build, it will be well worth it, as long as you keep things simple.

I haven't heard if they're doing anything for the 2nd gen. I think I read that they're doing the 3rd gen, which is D-VVT. The 2nd gen is VVT-i.

Yeah, but tubular is weaker. We like Turbo in the Desert stuff.
