    Or just a head swap, since the blocks are the same.....as long as a Haltech is running the show. Then still, he'd have to figure out the way around emissions. Maybe head and ecu?

    Maybe just a 3rz swap, and the current ecu will still be happy. Benefit would be the added liters. This option sounds easiest to me. Swap in rods and pistons prior to engine swap. Done. Easiest swap ever.

    Manual. It's not a big difference from when I had 30s on my truck a couple months ago. I'm probably just overreacting but I guess if I did regear it wouldn't do any bad lol

    I’m pretty much sticking with this motor. Too much of a headache with emissions every other year. Trailer queen maybe, but it would be boring to tow this pile to the desert.

    If it was auto trans it would seem slow on take off. Mine is auto with 4:30's and its slow on take off but that's street not off road.

    Head swap wont work. The block is the same, except the provisions for the timing cover. The cams have two drive gears, instead of the 3rz single drive gear for the cams

    Putting in a 2TR wouldn't be too terrible. It's a newer motor, from a newer tacoma. Would streamline the process!

    Also, no EGR, just an air injection pump. Way easier to maintenance and remove/reinstall when it's time for smoggage

    Add timing cover to the list. Might make that more expensive than a swap. Hmm. Random thoughts.

    Well now I want to see if the timing cover would fit against the 3rz block... hmmm

    Would have to use the 2tr sub pan too though. Hmmmm

    It'll be interesting to see how it runs in 60 deg. It's been in the 20's and 30's for a while.

    Nah I'll stick with my old 2rz for now. Shoot saw a whole complete motor last month on CL for 300 as a core.

    Does anyone know why my boost gauge shows 10 psi but the spring in the wastegate is 7.25. Is this normal ?

    Where do you have the vacuum hose from your waste gate connected too?

    Gauge sucks, or wastegate priority.

    Another gauge for comparison would give you a definitive answer.

    What type of wastegate do you have? With the tail I found the pressures were off. I believe the exhaust gas itself helps compress the spring.

    This is what I found with my Tial MV-S setup
    4.35 = 5-6 boost
    5.8 = 6-8 boost
    7.25 = 8-10 boost

    Wastegate is good it’s a Tial from Ko racing but I could just compare with another one.

    That’s right on point and I have the same wastegate. I’ve used each of those springs with the same results
