OK, so your truck runs in open loop (ignoring o2 sensors) until it's warmed up. Meaning it runs on a predefined program set by the ecu. It cannot compensate whatsoever for your larger injectors. You're probably running extrememly rich at idle? This is why. You've added much more fuel flow but your ECU can't dial it back. When you have your aem ecu you can pull "x" percentage out in open loop so your idle is happy. It gets somewhat better when your truck warms up because it's in closed loop and your ecu is pulling a crap ton of fuel out and probably maxing out your LFTF and setting codes rich codes eventually. AT WOT, you're back in open loop and you're adding more fuel than stock and more air than stock so it can work to some extent if you find a happy medium.

Secondly the wastegate spring is just a wild ass guess. You get whatever you get with your spring. Different springs will perform differently with different setups. If you want more boost, change to a stiffer spring, or hook up a boost controller. Especially if you don't have a boost controller hooked up the wastegate starts to open much sooner depening on where you wastegate is referenced. (and especially if it's referenced at the turbo compressor housing, the pressure here will be much higher than the manifold due to loss through the piping and intercooler etc.

I think I have a 7lb spring in mine that, without a boost controller started to open around 3psi. After hooking up a boost controller it gets to 7psi before starting to crack. And then you can crank the boost controller up and I'm running 14psi on a 7lb spring. Confused yet

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Im mapecu3 cel is o2 sensor stuck rich (also why i assumed a vacuum leak), i've pulled a crap ton of fuel for the start up rpms and vacuum because i was having trouble cranking it due to being too rich and that is why my idle once im warmed up is so lean (and i assumed i was gettin unmetered air) wg boost line is off the manifold so no pressure loss)

I swear i'm getting a couple of yall confused. Your tune is jacked man you need a tuner. It takes a truly big leak to make a big difference.

I'm originally from SC. An after-HS friend was into the "rice" cars before Fast-n-Furious was cool and we use to meet up in Wal-Mart parking lots and bs until a decent group got together- then it was races and drinking. It was a great social network and every time someone pulled-up with a turbo it was a spectacle and learning experience. At the time I didn't give two rips about engines, I had a M3 convertible and was perfectly content (I was the audio guy btw). If anybody doesn't have a local guy to help them out, I'd recommend stopping by and chatting it up with these groups- they're generally excited to see something new. Also, these are the guys that generally own the shops around and have the best hookups- we were.

I've got mixed feelings about when I get to the fueling stage of my build- I love a good challenge, but I swear it sounds like a never ending annoyance. Annoyance doesn't equal challenge for me.

It's not man. There's a learning curve but it's pretty simple once you grasp it. There are so many people that have done it successfully, but you'll only hear from the people that have a bad time. Don't fear it.

    Me too!!!!

    True words right there!

The specific tuning device, can also make difficulty of tuning a little easier or harder. End result is still the same.

I will be pushing the Block build pretty heavy soon, and there are some parts on the horizon thats been talked about. 1k+ HP kind of deliciousness

I assume they will fit, but I think the 2TR has a different wrist pin to crown measurement, so the actual compression ratio may differ with the 3rz pistons

Even for 4cyl in general it’s a pretty affordable motor to modify compared to other 4cyl out there. I’m not complaining

Would it be easier to tune if I put the pink tops back in and go to 5psi. Just lost right now it’s not really driveable until I get something going but I’m sure I’ll get it.

It looks like Im going to take out the 440cc put in the 320cc (pink tops) and lower the boost to 5-6 psi to make sure I’m not having any other issues. Once I learn how to use the AEM fic then I could put bigger injectors if needed.
