Makes me think the 2TR crank is more stout, with 5mm less width on the crank journals

Makes me wonder if the crank is the "same" dimensions, judging by the diameter similarities. They might have just made the rods narrower?

Could be a whole different crank. We'll hopefully find out in the other thread.

On my 1GR, there was a large gap between the sides of the rod, to piston, where the wrist went through the small end. Allows a lot of play. Sometimes that play will be on the crank end.

Is it safe to assume the 2TR isn't as stout, stock, as the 3RZ because it has 5mm narrower rods?

It's hard to say whether its more stout or not. Could be using a different alloy in the rod that is stronger, since its a newer generation. I have not seen anyone go over 300 without swapping rods and pistons yet, so idk for certain

Hard to see the second one, but it does look to be very close. Only a mic will tell

Could I be creating a conflict in the wiring if I did the rear o2 sensor mod before and when I wired in the aem fic I also did the rear o2 sim in the harness.

Well, verdict is crankshafts are definitely different.
3RZ rods could be installed if small end is ground down from 25.81mm to fit between the bumps, which is 21.15mm. The 2TR rods are 20.83 wide, so no loss in strength there.

Dear God I would not want to grind 5mm off! I would just hard mill it and leave like .05mm on each side to finish grind.

If they're 4340 or 4140 or anything like that shouldn't be too bad to do

I said grind, but meant mill. Yeah, 2.44 off each side should do the trick. I'd have to pay a shop to do it, of course... I don't have a mill YET
