They probably have that part plastic so if something goes down it's just the gear instead of something else more serious.

I've done a few designs like that.

It interacts with a metal bevel gear, transfers power from motor shaft vertically to spindle sander. If you've ever used a spindle sander you know that if you put too much pressure on it the paper will spin around the drum. Making this of plastic is not necessary and I would bet a very pretty penny they did design this as a weak point, but only to make sales $$$ It is absolutely not necessary, too simple a system. I would rather it interface with another plastic than to have one metal and one plastic. It could be their way of getting around lubricating the bevel gears, I don't think they're enclosed with oil.

"THIS POPULAR PRODUCT IS IN HIGH DEMAND AND TEMPORARILY BACKORDERED."
I've seen it like this for well over a year

Most likely in this day in age, less maintenance the better with no oil or grease to deal with. Plastic is cheaper.

Better selling point in that aspect

I need to build a freaking storage shed on the side of the house. Love to build a motor on the side and get more tools.

Looks like it is time to 3d print some nylon gears to hold you over or design a gear so people upgrade from you. Steal their $$$

So, went for the maiden voyage today; I gotta relearn how to drive again :D

So, the thing I was most excited for with this flywheel was the shorter shift times. Needless to say, I am VERY happy with shift times now..

Because it is lower mass, it now sounds like I am a Super newb trying to take off from a stop lmao

    So far, so good!:bananadance:

That's good to hear. How's the clutch pedal feel compared to stock? Is it a lot stiffer?

Softer actually. Smoother action, and it's the same throughout the whole stroke, unlike the stock one where you get that definite point of engagement. I hope that makes sense lol just played a round of golf so I'm all tired
