Shout out to CDI (Snap-On) torque wrenches. I have one from 1998, 2012 and 2013- all three were just tested for calibrated and are still within specs

Is anyone running a small turbo and low boost on a 1gr with the stock Ecu with the Trd reflash? Or is the only option a piggyback, haltech, etc?

 

Didn’t know can just get a TRD flash

 

When Toon had his 1GR turbo kit built, he had no tuning option. I told him, that as long as he kept it around 6 psi, his TRD s/c tune would work. It did, and well.

 

What size injectors should I run?

 

youre telling me! time to get a tune scheduled. closed loop works well at least until then

 

What are your fuel trims? Is it intermittent or does it happen the entire time you are at full throttle?

 

trims are usually positive for the short term. i think its the entire time. to be fair i put a base tune on it and didnt bother with it after.

just going to take it easy for the next couple weeks. wouldnt mind learning how to tune, just dont want to mess it up either, ha.

 

Well, luckily you are going to be adding fuel, so you will always be getting further away from blowing it up as you adjust the map haha

And anything positive trim means it's compensating for a lean condition. So all the way through the map you could play around too.

 

If you could get a hold of someone who could reflash your ecu with TRD tune, then TRD injectors. But I don’t think dealerships do so anymore.

 

I have all the TRD CUW tune files if anyone wants them, you will need a Mongoose Pro 2 Toyota cable and techstream to flash your ecu.

 

Correction I have most of the CUW files looks like I have from 2009 to 2014, which ironically means I am missing the file for my truck.

 

Let's talk spark plugs
I'm reading that gap should decrease as boost increases, <15psi should be .028"-.032"
I've read good things about Iridium plugs and boost applications, however it's noted that iridium plugs should never be altered.
I remember you guys talking about colder plugs about a year ago, can't recall the specifics.
What would you guys recommend for the 2TR and why?
