Depends on how aged yours is. Also that it facilitates the ease of servicing an external filter.

A minimum of 255lph, or larger, depending on your future hp goals.

It will definitely be of help, and is always better to have in beforehand.

He still has his. Just spoke to him recently. He also responded to my build thread. Something about changing his CX kit.

Got kind of a stupid question.... The urd kit calls or premium gas but is it possible to tune for regular gas octane?

Don't run regular gas with forced induction. 91 octane minimum.

Is it because with more air you need more bang from the fuel?

The higher temperatures increase the risk of detonation. Higher octane fuel is less prone to detonation. Or at least that's my understanding of it.

For some reason people think octane rating is how much power is in the explosion but that isn't the definition at all, it's the resistance to detonation. E85 is great because it's octane is something like in the 130s, and you have to inject so much of it because it's power is actually low, so the mass amount of fuel cools things.

Yup still got the truck. I keep saying it, but as soon as I get my wheel/tire and brake situation sorted it'll be back on the road.
And a member on here said they were working on exhaust flanges for the 5vz, figured it would be a good excuse to look into redoing the CX kit with a custom one.

All very good points and reasons.
Servicing the system more easily is a plus. Sucked big fat donkey testi's when I had to put a fuel pump in a junk S10 many moons ago, even with pulling the bed off...

I don't need one yet. Hopefully not for at least another 65k miles
I do plan to turbo eventually, so why not buy it, install/shelf, so I have it when the time comes?
Mine has only about 68k miles on it, but they can die at any moment, almost, without warning. I would definitely get a 255 or higher rated pump.

Would it behoove me to get the E85 kit too? It's not nearly as plentiful around me. Seems like it was for a while, now it's died down some.

Get one that is rated for it, and the ethanol content in the gasoline won't be able to wear it out, like one not rated for it.

    Copy that.
Just want to get the little things out the way that will add up over time. If I never turbo, at least the truck will be closer to 'bullet-proof' and less prone to failure.

I already tempt fate enough wheeling without a spare tire or any spare parts at all :D

Get a standalone, and some bigger injectors with a higher flow pump, and tune that biscuit

All the honda boys do it, and their engines are shit in comparison to the 2TR lol

But wouldn't the engine just sense the unburned fuel with the oxygen sensors and still fuel the same as the smaller injectors? Or is that what the joke is...

If you dont use a standalone ECU, then thats exactly what will happen. But get an ECU and tune for bigger injectors(injection/ignition timing change) and you can squeeze some ponies out of the engine no problem.

It's all dependent on that Standalone though... unless OVTune wants to actually step up with some flash tunes already... but I am not holding my breath on that so I recommend to everyone to just go standalone if they got a 2TR

The only joke here, is that we are letting those honda boys take all the glory. Gotta show them who's got the REAL 4cyl power lol

I am truly impressed with the 2TR, of my friend's. In a few more months, the Haltech should be going in.
