Alright guys.. Ive got a 2tr in a buggy I'm building, like a no dash, custom firewall, fuel cell, tube chassis kinda thing.. this wont be street driven so cel and other bs codes wont really matter, just want it to run well.. what do you guys recommend as far as a stand alone engine management system? I figure forced induction is something I'm interested in for the future.. But want to make it work before I get parts for that..

Inb4 literally everyone in this thread starts screaming HALTECH!!! autistically.

But seriously, HALTECH looks like the way to go.

Well, the Hewitt bypass kits works flawlessly on a 2012+ 2.7l. Took me all of 20min to install and button up to look clean. After 3 cold starts, there's no codes, pending or active. So for anyone on a non-standalone, it works great. Also ordered a set of the Accel Super coils, as the Duralast ones are once again (not shockingly) giving me a slight hesitation when it's wet.

I initially figured it would just always have the system in a not ready state, which still wouldn't bother me, as long as I have no CEL lit. Here in NY, you can have 1 system not ready as long as there's no CEL....so now time to go get this thing inspected!

Kinda what I figured after some searching. Most people seem to like the haltech stuff. The elite 550 be enough to run that? Ultimately id like to thin the harness to a some what clean state..

    A thing or two...
You need the 1500 to handle the drive-by-wire pedal/throttle body. If you're swapping to a mechanical pedal/throttle body, the 550 should work.

Like adapt a 3rz tb? My plan was to swap factory clutch and brake for tilton or wilwood assembly..

Sounds good. Mine is crazy loud in the cab because I don't have an interior.

The overall turbo and exhaust decibel rating is fairly tame. I was expecting it to be louder. Sounds nice.

haha yeah, it's actually embarrassing because it makes quite a bit of sound and as soon as I really get on it the clutch slips and I'm going no where lol

I just started to, just not really sure what safe numbers are. In researching it seems 1600° in the manifold is the max for gas engines. My probe is just after the turbine and I've seen 1450°. Not entirely sure how much heat is lost in the turbine itself, some say it can be a 200°-300° difference. If that's the case I'm well over 1600°.

It is neat to see the temps drop when the ecu goes into open loop. Even if it only drops my afrs to 13:1 it still makes a 50° difference.
