Has anyone else kept the egr hooked up? I keep blowing the gasket every couple thousand miles. Curious if you may have the same issue?

From my understanding it helps keep cylinder temps cooler.

Found its actually the manifold gasket leaking this time...

All it is supposed to do is reburn some of the gas to provide a cleaner emission output. Putting hot exhaust gas in the cylinder isnt going to make it cooler

Everyone ripped that shit out on supras. Its all BS.

If you really want to lower cylinder temps get a meth/water setup.

Of course they did, its a power robber. For now it's more work to pull out than leave it be. One of my manifold nuts started backing out causing the leak.

Manifold pretty much done. Wish I knew how to tig. Learned a lot in the process. A lot goes into these stupid things. Moved the wastegate so it won't be so close to the coilover. Used 309 wire for the ss to mild. Welds really weird. I'll post more as I go along. New elbow on the turbo.

309 is a good strong and blend metal grade. Never MIG'd with it, but use it quite a lot for stainless to mild. Puddles beautifully with TIG.

The look might not be where you want it, but I am positive the welds will hold. Plus that header will be very sturdy and resist the vibrations equally well.

It’s not pretty by any means. Mig is too fast for this type of work. The cutting and figuring how when and where to weld first to last was the hard part.

Did you bolt your manifold flange to a table or giant heat sink when you welded your runners to the flange?

I have an inch thick plate of aluminum that I bolted it to, as a heat sink.

Lol that would have helped me out. Oh well time to call around to see who can flat grind my flange. I'm about 1/16" out of flatness.

Porter Cable has a decent belt grinder. Easy to find at a Lowe's. Maybe Home Depot. Them, Grizzly, maybe Delta. One of those will square your flange away.

Hmm I’ll look into that. I could use a belt sander. For my tube I use the flat side of my chop saw to square off angle grinder cuts. That whole manifold was a chop saw, angle grinder and die grinder.

Mine wasn't any better. Used a grinder flapper wheel, and a portable band saw with no flat table adapter.

Interesting...it seems ovtuned was able to fit 2 turbos under the hood. And they’ll be adding a Sc package as well.
