Ouch. That will be a fun project and a rarity as well. Full OEM harness or are you planning on an aftermarket ECU?

Got a lot of stuff lol
As much as I want to go aftermarket for now cost wise I'm going to reuse the OEM harnesses and splice it I to my current one to maintain the non engine management stuff.

This move is killing me. I miss my truck. I miss my tools. And they had to send me to FL for two months during summer months... heat index was 105 today

I’ve been MIA working on some much needed house projects, and this has unfortunately put my engine build on the back burner. I am just now getting caught up on this thread and saw that you needed some help surfacing your manifold. I know it’s late but if have not been able to get it done yet I can help you out. At some point I thought I saw you were close to SD so it would be easy to meet up. Let me know.

Thanks for the offer. This truck goes on the back burner too, lol. I was able to have my local fab shop stick it on their belt sander. Possibly I might have a leak near the front but I’m going to let it heat cycle before I try to get it sanded again. Gasket gets slightly thin in that area. I work in San Diego. I’m in the area pretty often.

No problem. Glad you were able to get it done. If your in SD often I think some beers and truck stories are in order in the near future.

I do frequent the SD Thursday beer meets. There is a thread in the socal section. Then you have a whole range of trucks to see also.

Don't use a gasket. Use wood oven gasket maker. Dried into a cement and seals even the shitiest surfaces

    Its what I use. :notsure:

Even with a flat flange, a lot of ppl complained about leaky metal crush gaskets over time. A proper multi layered steal gasket is what you really need but this works well also, especially if your flange was as shit as mine. With the cement, had no issues.

Wow nice stuff. Let me follow up where this manifold is coming from. The internet would try to shame me if i use gasket maker to fill my gaps on a part I cut and welded from scratch. Chinese stuff, I get it. This flange was particularly difficult to work with as a real first time home made manifold with limited tools. I also had to weld in and grind flat that machined pocket. Next time just doing a cheap plasma cut flange instead of this. You can see the belt didn't fully get cylinder 1 and 4.

Edit: also I'm lucky that gasket you see is MLS for the head.

Did you have it bolted or welded to a heat sync of some sort, while welding?
