Tiny start to the downpipe. Isn't much room to get your hands in there now.

 

Ahh the in and out process that begins now.

 

Have that v-band flange clamped to the turbine housing, to dissipate heat, prevent warpage, and only weld a small section at a time. Let it cool, then do another small portion. Warped v-bands are the worst most frustrating problems.

 

All flanges here all are now clamped / bolted down now.

 

Always like his videos. Saw it a few days ago. The exhaust ports seem small to me. That timing chain on the transmission side is wild. Cool compact motor. What about turning down the spark plug socket. Man they don't want people wrenching on it.

I like chain driving the oil pump for some reason.
The cams are hollow and the lobes looked pressed on to me, as if they're splined

 

The hydraulic lifters being clipped to the rocker arms is genius

 

That is a very interesting and intriguing of an engine and a turbo.

 

That's the truth. They really don't. Dang Germans. Always over complicating things.

 

Lot of cool stuff on it. The windage plate with the side slot on the block for the draining oil.
Be funny if the 2jz is more compact length wise than the b58.

If only I could bolt a turbo directly to my block with a simple downpipe out.

I have always wondered why no one turned a fwd motor around instead of having all that exhaust heat right up front where nobody wants it... This is pretty nuts, but I also feel like its about topped out...
