So for those of you that watched fastest car season 2... That ls hilux guy has a yt and I just watched a vid where he drove down to Miami and back to NH... He went to gulf shores on that trip he said which is in Alabama so there were 2 Toyota pickups with turbos in this state for a brief time...

That video was more or less a compilation of cops pulling him over haha... There was an Toyota 86 that made a cameo but the diff was exploded so it was just on a uhaul trailer

yeah i thought so too but for some reason people with money like to swap engines and stuff so i was gonna get another opinion... i mean it does make perfect sense to take a v6 out to swap it with a v6 though...

I have a turbo 2tr hilux pushing around 300hp at the moment, ive recently bought forged rods, pistons, new valve train plus other stuff and ill be pushing this engine to see what it can make safely soon enough.
Also, when do the stock ignition coils start running out of steam? Ive seen the r35 cop swap and the honda k20 cop swap.

@05Taco4x4 may have some insight on the coils, as he has done the R35 swap.

This will be exciting to have another built and boosted 2TR! What is your time frame for the internals to go in?

We have a few guys here who are using the OZ Boost header alone.

 

Oh dang he’s on a haltech. I bet those plugs will go all the way to whatever that gtx3071 will push out.

How different are they from late model 3rz coils?

 

Not sure, but they have the same dwell times as the 1GR coils.

 

The only thing from ozboost that im still using is the manifold, ill see how the internal gate goes 20psi +. If it creeps too much, ill get a new rear housing and get the manifold modified to suit an external gate.
Time frame, hopefully within 6-8 months.
Itd be sooner if it was the only thing, but i have a lot of other stuff to do on the truck, like fuel hardlines, shorten diff, bed floor, gearbox xmember as the stock is 40mm off the ground.
