I can see where you think I'm knocking it, but just stating sine general facts as to why it's not sought after. I have very little 2TR-FE research in me. I however, used to run Hondas at the track, Civics and S2000. I had one of the first 50 or so Kswapped older body Civics back in 2005.

NA motor vs NA motor, I highly doubt 2TR-FE can compete with a K24 without more internal mods than a K24. If it could, people wouldn't be swapping K-series motors into tons of stuff. but then again, 2TR-FE has very weak production numbers versus Honda/Acura models that have K20 and K24 varients which generally make a certain platform way more desirable. Boosted for 300-400whp, maybe that's another story but there are tons of low boost success stories out there for F20/22 and K series setups. The K20a_ and Z engines are cherries for boost. square as well.

Looks like there's already some Kswapped Tacomas out there. again lots more support for the K motor which is likely the biggest reason for it's success.

I don't recall him going over the details of that engine much but I know it has a really nice head on it from 4 Piston. probably 3K in head work/parts alone. The bottom end might be a little budget for 1100hp but it's still a built motor which aint cheap. It seems to be holding up pretty well atm.

The 2rz/3rz has a pretty good drag racing development. For some reason the 2tr had a slow take off. It is a truck motor, so it makes all the power down low. I like it because so few people mess with the motor and just slap in a junkyard 5.3 and call it a day.

The 2tr is essentially the 3rz which had quite a few records for hp out of a 4cyl.. the reason you see so few being pushed is because it’s a dumb expensive motor to buy.

damn toyotas and their high resale. 2/3RZ are pretty affordable.

not enough production. low supply and demand on OEM vehicle market drives up cost and scares away aftermarket. even the V6 Mustangs have way less support than the V8. just natural.

They are under informed on its capability, and very few, since the 3rz days, have pushed them. I only know of two running and built 2TR engines. One is regular member here. @05Taco4x4

Yup. People don't particularly go into buying one with their first thought of, going to turn the 4 banger into a boost monster.

I almost immediately looked into boost when my brother offered to sell me his Taco but I'm a different bread of Car Guy.

Back when I fell into a 1991 Ranger 2wd 6cyl for a DD, I thought long and hard about doing a remote turbo setup for it back in 2005. bought the truck for $995 on the day it was traded in. lol. needed a DD to keep the miles off my 1995 MR2 Turbo (RIP). oddlly enough, it needed valve cover gasket done on it just like my recently acquired Taco does. I only got rid of it bc my friend wanted to trade his 97 Accord for it. He was itching to make a lowrider truck and didn't expect the engine he swapped into the Accord to have a bad 4-5 synchro. I was only interested in it for the healthy JDM H22 motor in it to swap into a Civic Hatch to make into a road course track car though. Ended up going K20a2 though anyways which was good fun in a light car. 215whp/160wtrq and only 2480 with driver and full tank. basically LS1 vette hp:weight ratio.

What's the y-axis on the intake valve timing map?

And showing my tuning noobness, I'm trying to understand "engine load" because my Spark Degree Advance table is RPM v PSI

They’re setup with Air Load (Calculated Load) vs RPM

Ah ok, so MAF readings. I deleted my MAF, no way to correlate those to MAP readings I guess.

I need to find a good tuner I can trust and just drop it off with a blank check. I'm going to start a gofundme lol

Not specifically just MAF. Calculated Load = (Current Airflow / Peak Airflow @ Sea Level) * (Baro @ Sea Level / Baro) * 100%

I'll post up some data for you of Air Load vs Boost from a 2.3" Pullied S/C 1GR. One sec.

I've seen worse. At least your spin would be "help me, help you". in essence, data acquired from your build could help tune future setups.

I used a GM MAF and a black box of magic to tune a 92.5 AWD Talon I had back in the day.

    https://machv.com/products/maf-translator-base-unit

probably not needed and most likely a headache to implement over the factory MAF. Probably should ignore that I even pointed this out. lol
