Mine was made from aluminum. Height or depth of bolt holes in cylinder head. Cylinder centerlines to block. Or, give the shop making the torque plate a cylinder head. Makes it easier.

so my experimental quick fix for cold starts is to just add ~2 gallons of e10 to each tank of e85; I did this yesterday and things are going ok so far but it was in the upper 30's this morning so starting wouldn't have been much of an issue on str85 (i need to trademark that). this should create roughly a 4-5% richer mix on the same tune (2 gallons in a 21 gallon tank is ~10% and e85 requires 35-40% more fuel than e10... math= ~4%) this will also add some much needed volatility to help with those cold mornings so not only will it be slightly richer, it will also ignite slightly easier...and a 4-5% differences in fuel trims are well within acceptability for this tuner, especially if it helps the starting issue

 

Can definitely confirm that you're on the right track. Living in the northeast, my old STi HATED cold morning starts especially with the 272 cam. My tuner had actually told me throw a few gallons of 93 in the tank, and it made a considerable difference. Along with not going lower than 1/4 tank overnight.
My ex's BMW was also on str85 and it ran like poop on a super cold morning start. The fix for that was also adding 2gal of 93 to every tank from Dec-Mar.

So I'm working on my parts list for building my engine. Have any of you 2.7 turbo guys had issues with the plastic intake? I have access to a couple 22r and 22ret engines and was wondering if anybody knew if the aluminum intakes would swap over. Haven't had enough time lately to go pull them and check myself.

 

They definitely will not switch over. But @05Taco4x4 has an intake that will

So im on page 98 of the turbo thread. There has been mention of check valves in the vacumn line installed. Which lines exactly and what part?

 

Probably to the brake booster.

But why the hell are you running 85 in a boosted...anything?

You should always run 91-93 all the time.

doing some fine tuning before my desert trip this weekend. Still running wastegate only on the new turbo. Fully spooled around 3500rpm @10psi. I'll do a redline run tomorrow. I just wanted to see what the low end did first. I load up the motor around 2k rpms so I can get the ecu to go into open loop before the turbo does work. Flows more than the old turbo.

 

Been a while in the making. Cannot remember? Same injectors as before, or newer and larger ones?

 

still running my 550cc injectors. The largest this ecu can handle before going stand alone.

 

That's right. Been a while. Having to add in some extra boost juice then, due to the added flow. How's if feeling?
