Truck did amazing in the desert over the weekend.
I love the new turbo. Power is crazy useable compared to that stupid eBay turbo. I'll play with the go pro video during the week.

WOW. You must be impressed! First time that I can ever recall you speaking down of that turbo.

Once I put the truck in dirt, it is a night and day difference. Can lug it in the sand and spools right up. I’m sure the new manifold helped too. Completely different truck.

Is the purpose of the tires hanging so far back for balance when hitting jumps so you don't nose dive?

I sure as heck didn't get a roost shot. Don't think it's that impressive. 250-260whp isn't much of a roost monster. My buddies might have a mini dirt spray when they edit their dslr shots.

I left the tire that far back from the last owner. A bit far for my taste, but I did do it to add weight to make tuning the rear shocks easier for me. Now it's a bit too much weight. I do have a cargo tray between the tire and cab. I can load the truck up for a weekend camping trip.

lol, it’s a 7.3. I know better to leave it stock. Toyota already broke down twice out there in the past.

Welp, all aboard the turbo train. Choo-Choo!
I recently picked up a truck with 10psi on cylinder 4. Haven't gotten the motor out to check things yet, but I'm looking to rebuild the motor to handle some boost.
Anybody know what these motors are truly capable of and what sort of price range? I think 400-500whp would be awesome in a single cab, but I will also be using the truck mostly offroad rather than on the street.
Has anybody rebuilt their motor and had good luck with quality pistons? There's so many choices out there I don't even know where to begin. I'm sure Paradise racing is selling some good stuff, and I'm not even seeing anything for the 2TR on LCEs site? I know @MrCrowntown is having his motor built by LCE, but that's been years in the making now :boink:

I'll be starting a build thread sooner or later, but any and all input you guys can provide to help me get the ball rolling would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anybody is in the PNW, more specifically NE Washington, let's grab a beer!

@05Taco4x4 has built his. Not sure where his parts were all sourced from, but I wouldn't venture towards Paradise Racing.

Most ofnthe components for the 2tr can be purchased through LCE. If not all of them.

@MrCrowntown has his engine finished, however , it is not installed yet. Unfortunately. Built by LCE.

I would avoid paradise like the plague.
He is super helpful while your in the process of swiping the credit card but god forbid you have a question or problem down the road.
I also had some questionable quality parts from him that were charged as legit “name brand parts” anyways goodluck try LCE or real street

    Be careful of LCE too.
I ordered their balance shaft delete kit and custom pistons from them.
They kept trying to talk me out of the piston compression I wanted and was pushing 8.5, I proceeded with something different. After the build I was reviewing the piston spec sheet before I filed it away- they shipped me 8.5 anyways. I have a feeling they dumped those on me, or they just don't give a shit what the customer wants and thought they knew better.

Yes, avoid Paradise Racing. I had originally ordered pistons from them, after countless weeks they completely stopped responding and I had to get PayPal involved to get my money back- months wasted.

To put it plainly, I don't trust anyone for parts for our truck.

With LCE don't ask questions. Got to know what you want before you order. I wanted to ring the sales guy by the neck through the phone. 400 to 500hp is probably right around $10k, maybe 15k, if you are starting from nothing.

Damn, thanks for all the heads up and forewarning guys.

That's a bit disheartening to see that the level of trust with parts is low, since lack of trust is ultimately what's driven me to this decision. I had planned on buying a used/running motor from car-part and getting the truck moving again so I can at least bash on it and then start the motor build later. But after trying to buy a used motor and reading reviews on the scrapyards, it just made me want to hold onto my money like Smeagle and the ring. Holy shit do these guys sound shady.

I'm by no means an engine guru, let alone a turbo guru so I've got a lot to learn, but I'm mechanically capable and have been wrenching for a long while. Guess it's time to start the research.

What's the highest HP anybody is pushing currently??

Don't let these guys get you worked up about LCE. I know the company personally and have cultivated a great relationship with them so far. They have barely opened up the 2tr segment last year based on the R&D that was done to my motor, so real world information is not as readily accessed as 3re parts. If you are serious about having them build your motor, or want to order parts, make sure you talk to "Wes". He is the facility manager and will be the best resource for info. If he Is not available, then "Tony" will be the next best resource as he is one of the longest standing employees, and least likely to blow smoke.

Keep in mind also that these guys build 1800hp engines, so outside of everyone's complaints about the general sales team, their reputation is undeniable.
