I believe it does have an issue pointing toward open loop. I can also tell if it put the throttle pedal to the floor it causes an issue in fuel pressure. Pressure and volume are dictated by resistance and inner diameter of a given object as well as pump output.

So what leads me to question the pump output (integrity of the pump) or sufficient wiring for amp load.

So a rough estimate of the fuel usage and correct me if im a little off in my calculations

With romping on it lets say im 15 mpg on the freeway which is where im seeing a big chunk of pressure loss.

Aem 340 pump out put at full amperage and 43.5 psi is around 330lph or 87.17 gph. That equates to 1.45 gpm.

Now if you take 15 mpg at 60 mph that equals 4 gallons of 92 octane fuel consumption in one hour. 4 gallons an hour equals .067 gpm. That equates to 4% pump output needed to maintain 43.5 psi.

Now i understand there are a bunch of varables like tps position, heat, line restriction, volume decrease vs pressure increase, is it 13.5 volts at pump or is it a lower voltage, etc etc.

Yeah my vacuum source is on a throttle body spacer for a 1 gr fe that i drilled tapped so i have ports for vacuum, aem boost gauge, and soon to be nos injection lol

Math aside for now, readjust the FPR, and fix the wiring. That will get rid of two other issues, leaving just the pump to deal with.

Then we'll really know if it is the pump or the wiring.

Welp, the guy who was going to trade me housings flaked.

So I found a decent deal on a new .63 housing in stock locally. Its comical how small this housing is! Guess we will see how quick a 35r can spool (and choke) on a 3.4. What are your guesses?

Almost half the weight, and probably half the spool time. ;) Max boosty at 2200.

    Psych!

Just went to install the new housing and it wont tighten down. Yes, I tightened the bolts but the housing still spins on the Chra. Quick check with calipers and the depth is about 0.013" deeper on new housing. Gonna pop it in the lathe and face it down.

Bonus round! There is a lip on the clamps that is about 0.017" thick. Thinking about just grinding that down if the lathe somehow doesn't work out.

Wonder why they would have different depths if made for the same turbo or turbo range?

I'm not sure either, can only speculate. Machining goof up I suppose. 1st housing fit great, was purchased separately from turbo too.

Not to sidetrack this goodness, but curious how other turbo builds perform on interstate driving at 65+
When in cruise and going up long grades my vacuum comes as low as -.5 sometimes, between -5.5 and -3.5 in the flats. I imagine this is dictated by the turbos chosen and whatnot.
Does anyone else see something completely different on their build, is mine within norms?

The grade causes additional loads. Decreasing the vacuum. I have been in windy mountain passes where it was in constant boost. 1-3 psi.

Turbine A/R coupled with turbo size can greatly affect the vacuum or lack there of with RPM and load.

Had a buddy that was fabricating the 1GR turbo kits for PowerFab. His was a quite small Turbonetics turbo. I think it was effectively a GT28 style. Cruising at 70, it was in minimum 2 psi boost. From what I remember. Any speed over 3k RPM it would stay in boost. Lol. He up-sized.

Ok cool, so I'm not bad then. I was on a real interstate first time since being back on mainland and after a couple hours drive and half a tank going 65-70 I averaged a little over 20 mpg at those vacuum. I only tested the turbo one time, I was surprised the little 4 banger ate in 5th gear at 8 psi.

I want to get back up to 24 mpg on interstate cruising, that's where I was at the last time I did a cross country trip. I imagine with a good tune I can exceed that.

I didn't, I'm going to redo my upper oil pan and turbo drain and then I might. I'll probably do that swap this week, I've been sitting on the parts. I haven't been off-roading in a while so I'm going to remove the IFS pan. I'm replacing the wheels/tires at the end of the week, mpg may get a little better- going from Sequoia wheels with 265/70r17 to late model 4Runner wheels with 245/70r17. I wanted to go with 245/75r17 or 235/80r17 but the tire I'm getting only offers that size in E1, I'm trying to stay SL or C1 to keep the weight down.
