    I feel like I guessed pretty well. That is very impressive!

    Now the next question is, will cruising over 2k mean that you're in boost or no?

    Cruising is fine. Drives like a normal truck. It's not the Rpm, its load. So towing, uphill or head wind could put it in boost. Too soon to tell, but so far so good.

    2" for increased velocity/faster spool.

    2.25" if you're going for just a HP queen.

    Id go down to .81 A/R at least as well, aren't you twin? Or is that a different guy..

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
    I'm also throwing a vote for 2"; a lot less "stuff" you gotta make room for with the smaller pipes and it will be lighter and gas velocity will be higher and you can weld 2" faster than 2.25" haha

    I’d like to be twin, but don’t think I’d ever spool two 9180’s lol.

    There might be a smaller A/R for mine, but if memory serves somewhat accurately, it is only in a T3. Being that I don’t have that kind of housing, it rules that choice out.


    Oh yeah, well aware. Just getting a mental comparison between your setup and how quickly it spools, versus the story of my friend’s with his smaller sized turbo on his 1GR. Going off of rpm because I cannot remember where an XR runs in vacuum cruising, between 2 & 3k rpms on level ground.

    Also reminds me of a conversation with an engineer from Both Warner. They were working with a drag racing team. Maybe Australia? Twin 9180's. At idle the turbos were creating 1-2 psi! I digress. My 4 liters of fury still needs the load plus 3k to make the choo choo sounds happen.

    Speaking of which, after correcting my VVTi map the other day, my engine is much more responsive. Including spool time.

    Because everything is built for 1k+. I take that back. I still need to revise the fuel system. That Walbro 480 isn't enough.

    What is the redline on your motor? I was playing with the BW matchbot with your turbo and you can make over 800hp around 6500rpms with only 20 psi pump gas. Even can make 15psi by 3k rpms holding your wastegate shut pretty aggressively. 7000rpm's and the turbo is going outside the curve.

    6200 RPM's. It would before on the old setup. Hit that boost like that. I have too long a section of 3" before the inlet, is why.

    dual 2.25" is a larger x-section than 3" You are probably decreasing your volume with the new setup.

    15psi at 3k is pretty rowdy. I'm a bit later than that.

    Just a tad larger, but yeah I know when you're coming from. When I originally planned out the kit, years ago, I ran a bunch of numbers. Header outlet size also being considered.

    I still have 2.25 from both sides. Just like back then. Even with the journal bearing setup, it still was a little quicker than now. The dual 2.25 merge to 3" T4 was right before the flange. Problem was accessibility and disassembly ease. So tried a slightly different routing to add in a v-band to make it easy to remove the turbo. Super easy to remove now, but the sacrifice was spool time.

    The 2.25 doesn't really seem to be THE issue more than leading into it, or in a few cases, going larger.

    The kits with 1.75" primaries reduced the velocity as well. They had slower spool times than mine with 1 5/8" primaries (Doug Thorley and URD Spec-U diameters). They still had higher torque than HP though.

    One kit had 1 5/8" primaries, into 2.5" Y-pipe legs, then into 2.5" or 3" and finally into the turbo. They had a laggy boost, but also more importantly LESS torque than HP. Imagine that.

    My goal is to go back to 1 5/8" primaries, and then either of the two twin scroll inlet sizes.

    The 2.25, in the past, had a pretty flat torque curve. Where I feel that the 2" may spike then taper off, as a matter of high RPM restriction.

    Wild, single turbo v6 sure is a sensitive setup to make.
    Life would be easy if you could set the turbo over the v section like a duramax.
