Ok, next suspension of mine:
Going from stock 60mm exhaust to 3", the exhaust expands and fills the larger volume; does this dilute the AFR? For instance, what's coming out 14.7 will dilute - will the sensor still read 14.7 or will it read ie 15.9 and add more fuel, making the engine run rich but report 14.7?

 

I'm thinking this is the case only at engine starting, once their is backpressure the volume of diluted exhaust is pushed out and the atmosphere is 1:1 exhaust, giving accurate readings. If this is the case, this is no different than any diameter exhaust but the larger the exhaust the longer this process will take.

 

It will still read 14.7. You should have the truck running in open loop when it starts up for the first few seconds to clear out the pipe. Your tune will change slightly.

 

I ask because after I installed the 3" exhaust I had to raise my base fuel tuning numbers to maintain same AFR on unchanged tune. Something is fishy

I wonder if going from the HI always warm gas blend to east coast winter gas blend had something to do with it.

 

Possibly. Depends on if you noticed that as soon as you filled up your first tank.

Is there more ethanol in your state's gasoline than in HI?

 

My sensor says same ethanol %

 

The 190lph pump I ordered is out of stock, so I ended up getting an Aem 340 locally.

 

Better for future growth potential.

 

Totally, but I dont think I'll use it. I just want to iron out the tune and be done until fall. I have plenty of other work to do on this thing as is.

I'm happy I went with a genuine Garrett housing when I was fixing my turd. The fact that the rear of the housing has more separation between the wastegate exit and turbine outlet made me feel more comfortable, as well as the better actuation of the arm. Plus, with all the leaks fixed, it spools so much faster and louder.

From the time I bought the turbo (It's actually a Supercell Turbos GTX2871R), I always felt like the turbo sounded more "whoooshy" than turbo-y. Like, I heard more air pushing versus the high pitched spool unless I really got on it. Now I hear much more normal choo-choo noises...which makes me happy lol. Now I'm thinking of swapping a 3071R compressor wheel/housing since I love how they look with the 4" anti-surge inlets.

You guys are making me nervous

 

I think part of the issue is that there's no flex pipe in the downpipe, so vibrations are transferred directly to the manifold. With everything being hard mounted, there's gotta be some point of failure. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone else had snapped downpipe studs (assuming you're using a 5-Bolt). Just my opinion, though.
