I got kit off a guy off xrunner owners page on fb that never installed it. He got it off a guy named Codie. The downpipe was rusty and open dump setup so we fabbed a new downpipe with wastegate recirc flex section. Added all new aem sensors to the dezod aem series 2 and aem meth kit. Engine is a rear ended fj cruiser pullout with 65k miles. Installed new timing chain kit and water pump but pulled the heads off first and installed arp head studs and new MLS gaskets. Plan to rebuild original xr engine with forged internals and head work and seen some photos and plan fab an aluminum upper intake plenum.

Are you using the FJ's oil pan as well?

 

Yup. Sits a little lower but I never plan to lower my xr so no worries

 

It is the better pan by far.

 

Curious to see what you guys come up with, for an intake manifold.

Are the FJC oil pans the same as the 4wd taco pans? Curious if there is an upgrade for folks with a 4wd tacoma pan or if that's about as good as it gets

 

I’m interested in adding a turbo to my 1grfe. (2015 automatic v6 4x4) I was planning on mounting it around the transfer case at first but have seen some of the exhaust manifolds on this thread, and would rather have it mounted in the engine bay to eliminate some lag. Is there a manifold that anyone recommends? What is a good injector size for around 8psi? Can/should I run a simple a/f ratio control like an apexi or is there an ecu flash? Sorry, just starting to delve into this and haven’t found much info and have lots of questions. Thanks for Help provided

 

It is the 4x4 pans.

 

Post header is the easiest. As far as "custom exhaust routing" is concerned. There are no manufactured headers or exhaust systems corrently offered.

Post headers, "mid mount" has its own issues with making sure that the oil return gets returned properly, without backing up. There are methods of approach for that.

A engine mounted style, requires a lot of custom fabrication. Plain and simple. Except all turbo styles are custom currently.

HP Tuners can handle the tuning, through your OEM ECU.

They have files for the FIC ~600ccm injectors already.

There is also an HP Tuners thread, where a few people with turbos have been tuned.

P.S. in a few months, I do plan on starting to make the hot-side exhaust tubing. It will likely be for a select few turbo choices. If not just one. That being said, that would limit the purchasing of the buyers to one brand and or size range. Minus additional costs.

I known that there have been twin kits made, but not after say a set of long tube headers.

Doesn't mean it couldn't be done.

Reminds me of the Audi race car, with a turbo mounted in the valley. The turbine housing has two inlets. Twin volute as well. Each inlet for each bank of cylinders. First time that I saw that design.

This is an adaptation of that, except molded on top of itself. Very cool to see it implemented in non racing applications.

Basically but a little bit more efficient.

 

Almost took out the head gasket yesterday. Was a half gallon low on coolant. Going to do some more normal driving before I play with the tune, lol.
