Should be fun. I have my work cut out for me.

 

Was told by torspd to share my turbo build here! T3/t4, 38 mm wastegate, running 6 psi, budget build. With everything I’m about $3000 deep into it. I know the welds are not pretty but only have a mig so it was the best I could do.

 

I love budget builds! Nice job. You didn’t want to use a 3” 180° after the maf to the tb?

What are you using for tuning?

 

Got a good deal on 2.5 inter cooler piping so just used that, and bought reducer couplers. I am using HP Tuners for tuning, JustDSM flashed my ecu with s/c calibration and tuned it from there.

 

Tuning go smoothly? I ask because there was another guy with a turbo kit getting his tuned recently, and was having hiccups.

 

He's just got the TRD conversion w/ the turbo base map I made for the X-Runner in FL who had a custom kit made.

I haven't seen a log yet But he stated, "Hey man, base tune is amazing and with my setup I end up only making 6 psi which is fine for me, still working out little things and whatnot, waiting to hear back from HP Tuners to see if they can do something about me paying again for credits." and "..took it on a trip 2 hour round trip and no major hiccups in the tune, little bit of a rough idle, I can see it having a bigger powerband with a little revision. But pulled the huge mountains here in WV in 6th gear at 75 the whole time."

 

I'm lucky enough to have a rather simple truck haha. Manual V6 with manual t-case, and one emissions VSV. So I can get away with an OEM ECU delete, looking forward to being able to tune though. Gonna nail down a NA tune before I bother putting all the turbo stuff on.

Decided to start with the 2", @MadTaco461 . My last week's progress.

 

Tighter A/R, than with the non wastegated housing, and now twin inlets. Should lower the boost threshold nicely. That is the hope.

Yes, it is tight to get the dip stick out. It does come out without a fight though.

 

So if im understanding this right.. You are running the haltech and no longer have the stock ECU in there? I wasnt aware you could do this, but being that it is called a standalone that makes much more sense now lol

 

I like it. You've come a long way. That is a really tight fit. How you do the 2" to the flange match?
