I still have my OEM ecu. To be more specific, I was referring to tuning N/A first.

The inlets of the turbo flange are 2". So it was just a matter of having reducers.

Yep no hiccups or problems what so ever so far, definitely going to get it dialed in. Anyone recommend a dyno around southern West Virginia? Hp tuners is slowly working with me and I’ll have a log to you tomorrow JustDSM.

    That setup sexy. ^^^^^^^^

Not Tacoma related, but....I finally got my new Holset "Super" HX30 on my VW 1.8t mounted, running, and downpipe made. It'll easily hold and carry 30psi to 7000rpm, too, and it's also seeing positive boost before 3000rpm. Super excited to get it dialed in but need a new o2 since the coolant and oil blowing out of the previous snail's death killed the sensor.

Just this one from a few days ago.
    https://youtu.be/e0scQwdhqis

Wastegate was set for 28psi but the internal gate gets pushed open by exhaust gases. I cranked it up to 30psi crack pressure after that and it only nets about 26psi boost now. Which is crazy fun. I experimented and unplugged the hose feeding the wastegate and eased up to 6000rpm and got on it and she shot up to maybe 38-40. I peddled it and 30psi at 7k is there. Now I just need the fueling to match it. I have a Ferd 7.3l WG actuator ordered and it’s a 33psi crack. So I should be able to crank it to about 40 crack and see 30 on the boost. Makes sense in my head anyway. If that doesn’t work I’ll be rigging up an external WG.

That something else. Full boost by 3.5k. I'll be lucky to be at full boost by 4k on my truck.
What is a super 30 rated for?

Find a true graph on a HX30 and I'll tell you. Holset website says .35kg/sec. Which is about 46lb/min. But mine has a larger compressor. 78/46mm vs 71/44 for the regular. It may do a 2rz good but I wouldn't put it on anything bigger. HX35 or a 40 would do well on the 3rz, IMO. HX35s come in around 4700-5200 on the 1.8t. These Holsets are for high boost applications.

Old one is an Audi sized k04 with hybrid turbine and compressor blades. It’d do about 18psi at 6800rpm. Wheezed out and blowing hot air. Having the bigger, more capable unit blowing cooler air is already a noticeable difference in the ass dyno.

im happy with my 55mm turbo on the 2rz. It’s a bit late but I’m sure getting away from the piggyback will help with spool. It does make a grip of torque down low. That holset can push some air. Good medium turbo for your motor. I’m assuming you are running e85?

    I had a Mazdaspeed3 that k04 was a pile. Hit like a brick but dead at 5k.

    Holy smokes mate!

Obviously that is a lot of pressure being squeezed in there, but it handles it like a diesel. What's normal boost pressure for that little engine? And Holy shit that is a massive turbo size upgrade to match that psi. Your little engine just got juiced! Lol

Lol at the meme. Changing things up with the new engine, are we???

Stock was a k03s. My year model was factory 10psi. It would struggle to hold 10psi at 6500rpm. Then I got a tune and it’d spike 20 through the bottom/mid range but fall flat on top end. Then the hybrid set at 22psi and it would wheeze out around 18psi or so. Now this one which comes on slightly later but will hold all the way across.

That pull was a 4th gear, low RPM pull to show boost onset and how far. Although the WG was leaking by it should hold more next Monday. But I counted about 9-10sec from 50-100 and that’s waiting for boost with no shifting. Pony car range with a 3-4th high RPM pull.

I've got a stack of stock KO3s from the junkyard, we get the 50% off sales and they end up $12 a piece. Buddy wants a turbo per cyl on one of his goofy builds. Thought it could be fun.

Spend the coin on one of these TurboSmart Oil Pressure Regulators if you’re serious about it.

Look it up. Any pressure over 40psi is regulated to 40psi. Anything under 40psi is not regulated and is what it is. Feed in, feed out to turbo, and 3rd line to vent off the excess oil away.
