    Better get a first start-up video. I am excited for you. Also, pull the fuel pump relay and crank it for a good bit, to get the oil circulated. Then do your start-up.

    Good call. I got a new fuel pump (just the whole unit) I'm gonna put in it while ive got it in the shop.

    Sooo... The crank turns 2x every 1 turn of the cam... Pretty sure I have something upside down because it wouldnt start last night. Gonna pull the cover off and roll it to tdc, take the chain off, roll it to the next tdc and hope that's what it was. Good news is there should be plenty of oil pressure built up now...

    Also on two different forums I saw where the 2 az was non-interference and zero tolerance so timing is either not a huge deal if its off or catastrophic.... I actually thought like mid 90s early 00 everyone pretty much got away from interfering engines...

    Thinking out loud. Shouldn't need to spin the crank 360. Just need the marks lined up. Crank and cam sensor tell the motor where it is. Maybe off a tooth?

    Thats what my buddy said but I figured 1 tooth off would still at least start. It hit like 1 time on 1 cylinder over the course of probably a total of 3 or 4 minutes of cranking

    The crank doesn't care when the spark plugs fire since there can be two TDC in a 4 stroke motor: one bang and one exhaust. But I bet the ECU wants to know. I used a bamboo shishkabob to find my TDC when I had my head reworked a while back. I rolled it until #1 was eyeballed TDC then I bolted the head down. Then laid the cams in, clocked them TDC, and bolted them down. Then made 4 rounds on the crank to verify it was all good and cam back exactly as it should then put everything else back on and in the engine bay. There should be that obscure crank mark to go off of and the cam marks are a lot more obvious. The crank mark is what concerned me and why I made sure to have it as close as possible before installing the head. Then the use of the stick to verify the mark below to the mark above.

    Good luck. It took a while to prime the fuel system, too. If you could jumper wire the pump it'd help speed it up some vs. whining on the starter. Also you could disconnect the tank return side and blow that into a water bottle to get the air out of the pressure side. I took the plugs out while priming the oil and I'm not sure if the fueling was priming at this time or not since the plugs were out.

    Sounds more like a diesel. It's trying though.

    I left the fuel rail connected so still should be pressurized I figured that fueling time may be an issue if the piston in exhaust and ecu thought it was compression, maybe ill get it knocked out tonight

    I just unbolted the rail and left the injectors in the rail... Its moot now after all the cranking attempts
