Return to sender, crossed my mind. Unless y'all have a rodent problem with an appetite for knock wires. Then keep them...

Anyone running a racing radiator overflow that still works like oem? The cap on mine keeps popping off and probably going to look for something that is an Aluminum tube around 32oz.

Haven't found any designs I like. For now I might 3d print a cap lock to hold me over.

Not quite sure what size Holset I'd have to go for my goals... probably bigger than any of those options though.

My HE351 is set 26psi factory spring on Cummins Ram and guys get mid 30s out of them, not sure how much you're looking for.

I've got the 2.7, aiming for 25 lbs and ~500 hp.

I'm not sure how a turbo designed/aimed at the 4bt would react to the gas engine in terms of spool response. They also seem a bit on the small side for what I'm looking at trying to do I think. But I haven't had time to research them that much so I could be wrong.

The hx35 and he351 are both more than capable of moving enough air for that.

The top measurement is lb/min. The left side is a ratio. 2.5 is equal to 2.5x bar minus bar. 2.5x14.5=36.25psi then take away an atmosphere of bar for a boost reading of 21.75psi. So for 25psi and 500hp you want to be flowing at 2.72 and 50to55lb/min. Just on the edge of the efficiency island of this map. The key is finding out what your motor and head can flow. If it can’t flow 55lb/min then you can’t make the power but you’ll make a lot of boost. If it can flow that much or more then you can make the power but not the boost.

    My HE351 came off a Cummins 5.9L 6BT, not a 4BT

Due to cylinder damage in the motor I'm building, it'll be getting bored 20 over. I'm also doing LCE's "pro HD valvetrain" with the +1mm valves. I tried contacting a couple companies last April or so about doing custom cams/sending them my spare set to possibly R&D with, but I didn't get much of a positive response. So I'll be running stock cams for the foreseeable future.

edit: After some quick looking around, I'm failing to find any comparison or difference between the he351w and the hx35. Could you enlighten me on this? @Brake Weight @05Taco4x4

The price point of the Holset is certainly more appealing than the offerings from Garrett, and I would like to try and get in on that preorder sale if I can.

I can’t remember exactly what it is, my understanding is the HE is newer and an improvement. Also, there’s a million variations of the HE, likely the HX too

Did you have to change the turbine housing to a single scroll one? I thought from what I’ve read that the HE351 came with a single scroll housing but I can’t remember.

We have an old farm truck with a 5.9 Cummins that has an hx35 on it but it’s a twin scroll housing. I have been thinking about using it for the Tacoma though whenever the motor goes in that and just swapping the housing.

I'd have to dig a little more on it. I haven't researched these since I knew they weren't what I wanted for my 1.8L. What do you expect the displacement to be after the over bore? 2.9L+/-? Don't think it'd make a major difference except shifting the islands over 3-600rpm. I looked long and hard through countless Honda and British drifty forums to get the answers I wanted. @05Taco4x4 is a good example to look at and I'll see what I can scrounge up for 2.8L VW VR6. Displacement is similar but flow is different but comparable.

I doubt it would be much more than 2.75, I don't think it will really make any appreciable difference since I'm not going with a high compression piston. Once again going with LCE's forged offering, mated to their forged crossbeam rods.

The HE351W that is being offered on sale would be the one I'm looking at. I have seen that there's dozens of different housings made for it too. @05Taco4x4
