What size hot side housing if your he351? Did you happen to measure the turbines? Do you know or have a picture of them to see how many blades they have?

The single scroll has some advantages of simplicity. Especially if the sizing is spot on, too. Your spool up is low in the RPM and that’s what the twin scroll is trying to do. A twin may net you more power initially (500rpm sooner) but top end is usually the same. But a twin scroll on a slightly oversized turbo can get you more top end with the spool of a smaller single. A twin works best with a divided manifold 1/3&2/4 but can be worked around with a quick spool flapper on a log manifold.

So everything I've seen so far is agreeing with taco 4x4 that the HE is the newer model of the HX. So I think I'll pull the trigger on the he351w, if I end up goin a different route I can probably sell it for at least what I bought it for.

Absolutely. If it doesn't get you to 25psi then it could be an easy sell to a 2rz driver.

From looking at the listing on the Benz performance website, I'm assuming I'll be getting a twinscroll, unlike @05Taco4x4. I know I'm probably going to have to fabricate a header anyways since the only ones available currently for the 2tr are Chinese junk. Guess I'll have to start researching twin scroll header design... unless @Torspd wants to tackle that? :p

If you get a twin scroll and can’t decide on a manifold design to utilize the turbo there’s this idea. Any decent machine shop should be able to make the entire thing except actuator.

    https://www.theturboforums.com/threads/diy-quick-spool-valve.378137/

You could just mount it as is on a log manifold and roll it like that, too. Some folks just remove the hot housing and have the divider machined out.

If you are internal gate do twin scroll manifold. It hit pretty quick.

If I knew the firing order, it wouldn't be too hard to do. ;)

I'm really curious to see what your IAT is going to look like... that filter looks really close to the header imo

The header is all under the turbine and back from there. Soon to be ceramic coated. There is not much room to put the filter anywhere else.

I have some screen shots of Iac temps with the side mount on a cloudy 60° day. 20210102_170729.jpg
This one was a 2nd gear pull to 5k, peak temp was 105°
    Screenshot_20201224-100709_Torque.jpg

This one was sitting in the drive thru, no airflow thru Ic so temps got up to 85°
    Screenshot_20201224-103204_Torque.jpg

This is after a few minutes driving normally after sitting in the drive thru. Temps got down to about 67°
    Screenshot_20201224-103835_Torque.jpg

Should be interesting to see what temps are with the Fmic. Bigger better core, fresh air, and a fan pulling behind it at idle speeds. Can only get better from here.

You run cooler than me. I'm sitting around 100f and heat up to about 120f. A bit cooler in the winter

Not much left of your inner fender either at this point! I'm looking at a couple options and hoping to avoid cuttin holes in fenders, but if it has to happen, so be it.

Since we're talking intake temps, anyone know if it's feasible to to put a sensor in the charge side and use the oem wiring so the ecu can have accurate temps? My charge pipe is super short currently and I don't have the room to move the whole MAF to the charge side.

You might consider the Glowshift Iat guage. I have one and its kinda cool. Its not fancy, but it does work well for gathering info. It has 2 sensors and 2 needles in 1 guage. You can place each sensor almost anywhere you want and get current temps (also has peak and hold built in). So basically you can monitor temps anywhere you can fit the sensors.

Is the direction of flow going to be turbo > top tube > intercooler > intake manifold?

Regardless, it will be very appreciative of the added airflow, and less dirt/debris from the tire.

That's the way it looks to me, and I agree with it being happier out in front and away from the mud slinging
