Think you can properly drain a turbo like this?

Should work. What’s the smallestID on that? I’m using a 3/4” hose on billet barbs so it’s maybe 16mm in the fittings. Holset calls for 19mm but I haven’t had any blue smoke issues. Using the OPR, too.

Smallest size is probably 1/2”, the lines are vibrant -10 ptfe lines. I have had bellows of white smoke and running out of ideas. Using an OPR, getting 40 psi max, pressure washed the exhaust and I still smoke. The drain lines are the only thing I can think of that are the issue now.

Could you run a reducer or smaller reducer so there would be a little less oil in the turbo that needed to be evacuated?

wouldn’t you want a large drain though?

I think he meant the feed. Smaller diameter would be less flow for the same pressure, so you'd have a smaller volume for the drain to handle.

Well of course, but if you can't drain enough out, it would be only logical to put less in... I mean unless you under oil your turbo.

I see how i may have been unclear... Yes like @buyobuyo clarified, reducer in the oil feed line

Gotcha. The feeds are -6 and recommended from what BorgWarner says. I have oil restrictors built into the efr so I don’t think that’s the issue. I think the drain isn’t dumping properly because of the elbow and it’s backing into the turbos on that small ass 1/2” 90

White would be coolant. Are they water cooled? If not.....

The 90 probably isn't helping. A 45 would drain better if theirs room for it. What thread is the bolt-on drain that you adapted to AN?

The more I look at this the more I think the drain fittings are jacked on the turbos. Just on a comparison here’s the drains again on the turbos

    [IMG][IMG]

the drains are covered in oil. Meaning they’re not draining into the block and back into the turbos. I say this because here’s the block side

    [IMG][IMG]

the drains on the block are not covered in oil so this goes back to my theory the fittings on the drain are jacked. I ordered new vibrant fitting that are straight and will be here Tuesday.

3/8” is only 9.5mm. Gonna need a bigger drain.

I ordered 4 turbo side drain flanges before settling on one. 3 threaded nipples later I used a thin wall billet one. Then the block side I used the previous flange and cut it out to match the OD of the thin wall billet and had it welded onto it. Then ordered more thinking I’d have the room for them but after having the 1” nipples welded to 3/4” threaded bungs realized it was too big to fit. Been rocking the smaller drain thus far with no issues yet. Most turbos just need an oil bath versus crank bearings or the like that are under pressure. You’re flow in is optimum therefore the flow out is not. You’ll get it sorted. Mine looks like a long sweeping conduit elbow.

Here is my drain. Had to make it a short hard line, soft line and fittings would have been too close and more difficult to work on.
