Turbo BS Thread

Crazy thing is the noise is gone now! It made no noise when I had it out the first time. I'm not sure how that's possible but maybe the bearings are just falling back into place or something. It's bonkers.

 

Well after liquidating some AK stuff I ordered the second new turbo today. Should be here at the end of the week.

 

Man i hope you hang onto this this after you get it sorted! You have sacrificed a lot both mentally and monetarily to get this thing running right.

 

Man that’s the exact reason why I want to sell it. I’ve put too much into this and I just want it out of my hair and into something else

 

Ahhhh i can totally relate to this, i battled mine for 6 months or more. But man, i gotta say, victory sure is sweet on the other side! Hopefully after it's fixed it runs so well you wont be able to let it go

 

Or maybe it's time to get into a boosted Toyota

 

Yea we’ll see lol. I’d like to keep it but I also want to ditch it and buy a ranger tremor. I’ve had enough of doing aftermarket nonsense and three years is too long for a project that should’ve been done two years ago

 

I am with BassAckwards. After this, it should be plenty of smooth operation. The gremlins that you had to overcome, are like salt on the wound yes because you paid to have a finished product. You have basically gone over every aspect of this, as if you were installing it for yourself. But, you have yet the opportunity to just enjoy it. Most people don't finish a project, and get rid of it. The quit before getting there. You're literally there at the finish line of completion.

I do know that you want to get it just right though for maximum resale value. However, finish it. Enjoy it. Take some time to not have to deal with it.

Then do a turbo upgrade on the Tremor.

 

While you guys have been busy, I have as well. I am always of the mind that you should only have one project at a time, but I feel like the universe wants to test me. Been working on this truck's turbo exhaust, on and off, as much as possible, trying to finish it. Here we go.
Some of you may recognize this turbo. Mocked up a jig of sorts for the location, and T3 flange. Since my previous was T4.





The turbo was used, and thus needed to be re-clocked. Used a bolt press to push it apart.

Back purged and welded up.



Rear primary tacked on. Now the other flange inlet could be located.

 

Drain return is finished. Unless we decide to lower it later.



Just need to finish the front primary, and cross-over. Woot!

 

They spelled Borg Warner funny on that turbo...

 

I recommended to the owner, not to play Wheel of Fortune.

 

I cannot wait to see how quickly this thing spools!

 

that thing is a super spooler. What are the specs on that holset?

 

It's not my Tacoma im boosting, but this has been a fun thread to browse through.

 

We don't discriminate, all boost is welcome here

 

All I know is that it is an HX35W. Maybe one of these photos will also help?
