Turbo BS Thread

Anybody on here familiar with the TD05H turbo? I got offered this pile of turbo stuff in trade for an older subwoofer setup I had.

 

What did that come off of?

Not a clue. The guy said he didn't know either. Multiple headers, intercooler and everything pictured. Just said he got it from somewhere not knowing what it came off of or what it was for.

 

Judging by the size of it, it would be a super spoolie-boy, if attached to the 2.7. Insta-boost. That is purely going by the picture alone.

 

If it were a proper size, you could cut that compressor outlet flange off, and weld on a cast aluminum piece. Making it easier to connect to a tube.

 

Well a brief Google search tells me the TD05H is the evo turbo.

This makes me think I'll be making out better on this trade than the other guy since I was only asking $200 for the subwoofers... and that turbo is 1k plus alone.

Half a setup for someone with a 2/3rz.

 

Fair enough. It does seem like it would be appropriately sized for the 2.7 engines, capable of putting out 15 psi, which should be good for 300-350 hp depending on supporting mods. From what I can tell it would also probably be very minimal turbo lag. Honestly probably a good turbo for an autocross build.

 

After getting the turbo in my hands and checking the serial number, the compressor is the TD05H 16G "big turbo." They made a big and small version, this is the big. I haven't figured out the hot side yet.

Here's clear pictures of the turbo. No shaft play, seems to be in used but good condition. Whole bunch of other stuff in the box of parts like injectors, a fuel rail, throttle body, wilwood brake proportioning valve, and a bunch of intercooler piping. The intercooler is a no name one from what I assume must be eBay. Also two headers, one is.... interesting. I'll get pictures of that later.

 

Yep, it's official. TD05H is too small for the truck. Doesn't take up enough space.

The Holset fits perfectly... despite not being clocked at all. But I can see it.

All I can say is avoid eBay turbo headers, this is probably what you get.
