Ok I have finally gotten around to setting my LS swapped 98 up for turbo. Already prepped the motor, ported 243 heads, larger cam, ring gap, head studs and MLS gaskets, trunion upgrade, new lifters, oil pump, timing chain damper setup and a double roller T chain.
I ordered a rear feed passenger side manifold with a rear entry and front T4 exit, I can just build and run a crossover from the driver's side mid length tube header over to the rear of the pass side to get the hot air into the turbo.

I have a VS racing Billet next gen 7875 and should have most of the other parts to put it together by the end of next week.

Material construction looks very similar to the Boostlab turbo that I have recently been working with.

Only took you a little while to finally get that turbo build in gear. ;):boink:

Nice! Any pictures of the rig itself? How much power are you aiming for?

Haha thats for sure! I bought a house and property and building my shop in sections when I can afford it so the Taco didnt get any love at all for the last 4 years...but now its time! After doing tons of research this turbo seems to respond extremely well. It should be a lot of fun especially in a little 1st gen! I havent seen what you have been doing but I can only imagine its pretty ridiculous!

I do somewhere, Ill try and find some so you can see what I am working with, its a 98 5lug on 19" wheels big brake kit up front and airbags and traction bars in the rear. Since I have an aluminum LS1 5.7L Im only going to push it to about 700 crank hp or so. I plan to later swap it out to a 6.0 and should be good to 1000.

Yeah I know right? Sheesh!! Me too, cant wait to feel the boost again in the truck, been too long. If I want to feel boost I have to drive my Camaro with the ProCharger on it but thats not the same as turbo....that being said the Camaro is the net project after I get the Tacoma working. Going with billet twins on the 67 and shooting for over 1000rwhp. The drivetrain is built for it and the motor as well, just needs more atmosphere and fuel!
I forgot to go for a rid with you in your truck on Superstition last time to feel it!

Nice! My 06 is on 18's, aiming for 500 whp with the holset on my 2.7. I've found that my brakes are sufficient for autocross, I lock the tires up still.

Hope you can make it back out next year. I'm hooking up a haltech elite this summer and spending a good amount of the summer to tune it and work out the bugs.

Sweet, that should be a lot of fun! I had a 2rz that made about 550 at 28psi through a GT3076R Garrett. Lucky for me I fabricated a BBK that uses 12.2" and Wilwood 4 piston calipers. Works almost too good, well in the front anyway...

Yeah I will, gonna bring some bikes next time, I made a new bike carrier that mounts on the back of the RV and holds 2 dirtbikes and pulls the Jeep!

Right now stopping is the least of my worries... it was understeer city today. I'm going to have to figure out how to get it to not understeer quite so bad. It also needs a new set of tires after all the abuse over the last couple months. I'm looking at stepping up to a 295 tire so that it's not stretched on the wheel like the 275 is.

How is your truck set up as far as height front to rear? If you add a tiny bit of rake to the front end you can get it to bite a little better if that is even possible based on your current height.
And with a 10.5 wheel you can get a 295 on it no problem.
Im going to have to try and get a 315 or larger in order to make my horsies stick. I have 10.5" wheels on the rear of my Camaro and it also has 275 rears but its mini-tubbed so I can fit a 12" rim back there pretty easily now and since that's going twin turbos next month I will have to get going on that project as well.

The sad part is gas is over $4.50 per gallon here now, thanks to a senile gentleman that "runs" things, lol.

I rear swaybar will be the best solution for reducing/eliminating understeer. There are/were a couple companies that I found years ago that had offerings for the Tacoma. Helwig was one if memory serves, and I don't recall the other.

So my plan is to 3 or 4 link the rear with QA1 coilovers to really control the rear axle and ride height. I don't want to be on a 3 inch block with 500hp trying to twist it out from under me.

I know some of the LT ppl that are running links have put swaybars on their trucks.

    Same, $4.50/gal is nuts.

El Paso is averaging $3.29 - $3.55 /gal which isn't entirely unheard of anyway. Not common, but not wild or never seen.

Addco is the other brand. There are some Aussie companies that make them as well. Cannot remember the name/s though.

No good turbo updates. Mine nor PreRunner. Only thing recently on it, was running the oil feed line. I really do like the Mishimoto, or similar, oil sandwich plate for a feed source, on the 1GR.
