It's less Tacoma and more mod
I sold the BMW, but I did buy a beater 1978 Chevy C10 and a 454 that's I'm working on building and then swapping in so I can later boost it.

Class 7 truck is ready for tuning and leaving this afternoon. I am very excited!

    Here are some recent additions.

The skid plate (3/16" AL) had taken some gnarly hits. Bent it away from the lower oil pan, where they had formed an unhealthy relationship.

    20210630_181819.jpg 20210630_192720.jpg

Then flattened as best as possible with my meager tools. Hammer and heat.

    20210630_192616.jpg

Under my advisement, I was able to repair the engine mounts. As well as weld up the gussets a little further than before. Driver side mount on the frame isn't as pretty as I'd like it, but it has solid welds and double passes.

Better suspension means bigger jumps, and harder hits. Shows on this passenger mount.
Cut off the damaged area, and added a thicker plate. Added a pair of internal reinforcement welds. This mount is only welded at the center, of either side.

From this perspective, you can see how tucked up it it, next to roll cage. Should never interfere with the cycling of the tire, at full compression.

    Hi Guys,

I have a turbo kit coming from OVTune, and want to upgrade the exhaust on my 2020 V6 Tacoma, first. I was hoping for a 3" exhaust in 304 SS but the only option for 304 SS that I find is URD at 2-3/4". I can live with this, but thought i would see if anyone here can steer me to other options?

Be prepared to expect overboosting. I'd get a boost controller.

I overboost just with my Doug Thorley y-pipe

My harness came in. I got my work cut out for me. Now I just need to get motivated. Had no idea it was a complete ecu delete. Crazy how many wires are eliminated now. Cool it can run everything. Shoot I still have charcoal evap canister control.

    Race truck.

I seem to remember him going with the haltech, and I believe it's the boomslang harness? He'll have to correct me if that's wrong.

yes, i see that you have had overboost. What spring are you using? My understanding is that the boost controller can only increase boost, but the spring sets the floor. Admit that I can't understand how lack of back pressure can cause overboost. Seems to me that the wastegate is more effective with less back-pressure.

I have the powermax coming, with fuel pump and injector upgrade (have the injectors already), and have an upgraded radiator with electric fan too. So i expect that the tune will fuel overboost, so there is no concern for damage. Though I do think i will be getting a boost controller, at some point I may well want creep the boost up. Need to get a better understanding of how effective the knock sensor is with the tune, evaluate the risk.

I'm using the 7psi springs that came with the base turbos.

The free-er (?) flowing exhaust because of my y-pipe has me overboost an average of 3psi additionally. Between that and other overboosting issues I had, I basically am using the boost controller as a way to avoid excessive overboosting that fueling would be incapable of supporting. When I was doing log revisions with Mat, he told me 10psi was expected and acceptable, but when I was hitting 12, that was too lean. I have no fueling upgrades for my kit.

Just the other day I turned down my boost controller a tad and yesterday maxed at ~9psi, which I'm fine with. I don't mind running less boost either, I just don't want to lean out and go boom. Lol

right on the money. Haltech 1500 and boomslang harness.
I had boomslang add a knock sensor and iat sensor. Boost control included.

Now I thought the boomslang harness allowed you to keep the factory Ecu for gauges and stuff?

It might be different for late model trucks. All I need to light up on the dash is speed and tach. I'm going to look at the oem electrical diagram again to refresh my brain. Here is what wires I have going out if it doesn't resize it too small.
