From having done a 3RZ swap in my ‘83, the pre-CAN ECU’s don’t need the OE to remain if you’re having fuel/ignition duties controlled via Haltech. The only thing you’d keep it in place for, is spoofing the OBD inspection during registration. But the truck will function 100% without the OE ECU in the older trucks.

For some reason I remembered him having a 2nd gen, thanks for that clarification about the older trucks.

Ive done a few of those, they work but they are pretty basic caveman style operation.

    Wassup man, long time!

    Haha sure does!
I might start ripping into my truck today so I can get to hear the whooshing sounds again! I finally have all the tubing so I can start fabbing up all the IC piping and the hot side. Just been working every damn day so I havent had a lot of time lately..

So I just went with my BIL to test drive a (yes what you are about to read is all correct to the best of my ability) a 2006 ram 1500 mega cab with a 12 valve Cummins and Allison tranny...

The guy had Frankensteined to the nth... They bought a school bus and took the engine and tranny and mounted it on a 3/4 ton frame (not sure where the 1500 comes in to play because all the suspension was from a 3500) but at any rate that's what all the badges said and I assume the title. It had a .373 rear end also so I guess maybe there was some 1500 still left in it. But the school bus trans is geared very low because they are governed to like 68 mph so it very much felt like it needed another gear (or at least 35" tires) and they had yet to work out the A/C kinks so it was a pass on our end lol. But cool to see what you can do with a welder and ingenuity. Oh also there was no "park" because school bus...

You are correct sir. We are all here for the pics regardless of what we say, lol.
Ill snap some of the pre-turbo setup since seeing a V8 stuffed into a 1st gen 5 lug is still pretty awesome.

Heck yeah! I'm really curious as to how it fit and what all you had to do to make it sit nicely.

For the record. This setup was very preliminary. No wastergate even attached. As well as no BOV. Still made boost.

Anybody have experience or know about Mini Coopers? I almost snagged an ‘03 S for $800 that needed only a water pump. It was posted on a Saturday and I immediately jumped on it with a message. He sold it before we settled on possible issues and I kick myself in the arse for not nailing down the sell. During the weekend I learned a pile of info about this particular model and it’s blown me away.

2000# soaking wet and the stock internals are good to 350hp and the tranny up to 400hp. Tuners are far and few inbetween but I came across a guy in Romania with countless endorsements that’s the man. Joined a forum and messaged him and he is dirt cheap and has done hundreds of remote tunes. Dig deeper and he has. My 1.8l Jetta stock turbo could net upwards of 280hp and my current Jetta Holset would be upwards of 320+HP. Now it’s a mission for a “mechanic’s special” but it has to be a sub 2004 model for the tranny and sub 2006 for the body style.

Imagine a Mini Cooper S with 300+HP and less than 2000#. A JCW head and flow up to 350+hp. All in a street legal go cart with AC and heat.

    Anywho. Just a quest ATM.

I know enough to stay away from them because they're a pain to work on and expensive for some things. They're bmw's packed into a mini body, and having had a couple autocross with the club I run with, I can say they don't really handle that great.

I've read that, too. 2004.5 and under, S only, have the good tranny and block. Any other S model else is a crap shoot and non S is glass internals. I’ve found one missing a title for $2000. Stock supercharger good to a sweltering 185-200 at 7000rpm. Rebuild the head and get another 1000rpm.
