That's what we're doing momentarily - pulling the stock catted pipe and replacing it with the URD catless midpipe. While it's disconnected, I'm going to check the Magnaflow muffler to make sure I can see through it cleanly. It's a straight-through design so it should be very apparent if there's anything clogging it. I've got a spare Denso AFR sensor, just in case. I'll update once we swap it.

 

Well boys, swapping the cat out solved the issue! As soon as we got the old pipe out, I was able to see some debris come out the end of the secondary cat.
Putting the URD power pipe in was a breeze, especially since we cut the old rear bolts out with the acetylene torch lol. Old one out and new one in with sensors swapped in less than 45min. Only caveat is you can't put the transmission-facing sensor (My AEM wideband) in until that spring bolt is tightened up fully.

Took it for a test drive and was hitting 6psi instantly. I missed not having power! It was getting late, but I got a real quick clip of getting into boost on my side street.
The sound is actually really nice in my opinion. It sounds like a blend of my old STi and my friends Evo 9, especially in boost. I'm not going to add a resonator, as it's not raspy or annoying...yet lol.

 

Sounds good and healthy to me.

 

It's definitely night and day difference, that's for sure!
I'll try to get a GoPro quality clip at some point. The sound in person is just so much better. None of my friends said it sounded ricey at all...which makes me happy hahah.

 

Just sent my Calibration ID over to OVTune to see if it's one of the ones supported...fingers crossed!
Their website says 2009+ 2.7L Tacoma AT and MT, so I'm hopeful.

If it's supported, I'll pick that up and finally be able to tune closed-loop boost, and I can get me some larger injectors and fuel pump and make some more jam!

I had the crank vent and Pcv recirculating into the intake pipe pre turbo. I would always notice a little oil in there when I clean the filter.
Finally made a little Aos using what I had laying around. I didn't have any extra line to lengthen the Pcv hose, so I turned it around towards fire wall to merge with the crank vent hose. I had to salvage the nipple off the intake pipe and make a Y fitting. Crank hose was perfect length. It then goes to the can where air/oil collects/separates centrifuge style. Center draw from can then back to the intake.

 

By the looks of it, you have a petcock or plug on the bottom for a drain, yes?

You sure made that simple, compared to what most aftermarkets like to do. Simple and effective.

 

Yes, it has a drain port on the bottom.

I'll keep an eye on how well it works as I put some miles on it.

Do you think (from your experience) there's room for a mid-mount setup on a 1GR? or are the shock towers just going to get in the way?

I keep flirting with the idea.. but I don't want the damn things up high in the engine bay ..
