    If I had alittle more clearance, it would have helped alot. From what I remember I had to rotate the oil pan up the side of the engine to slide it out causing all the residual oil in the pan after draining to dump out lol.

    If your drilling the upper pan for a turbo oil drain don't be like me and not realize the backside wasn't flush so I had to enlarge the hole for the fitting to fit. If I had to do it again, I would drop the upper pan lol. That being said there is a nice flat spot towards the rear of the pan on the passenger side. Just gotta go far enough back for both sides to be flat lol

    I'll be drilling it eventually, this weekend is purely for slapping new rod bearings in it if the poor thing makes it that long. I imagine I'll need to remove the upper pan as well.

    Get a long strip of fine grit emery cloth(1200 +). Should the crank journal be lightly bad. Remove fuel pump relay, and any chance of fuel delivery.

    Loop that looooong strap over the rod end of the crank. Making sure your hands are plenty far away. Have someone crank the engine with the ignition switch. You now have a polished journal again.

    Not for the faint of heart, but will help make it last a tad longer. Already damaged, so doesn't hurt.

    Always considering how bad it is after discovery.

    If you cannot, you could always try a cloth with buffing compound on it. Get the finest grit you can, even if it is 6-800, then use the buffing compound.

    Shade-tree, I know. But hey. I made worse things work. Lol

    That's too far off. Unless you have a vacuum leak, it should be around 21 inHg.

    But when the truck isn't running it obviously isn't effected by a vacuum leak... I just feel bad it has taken me like 4 years to realize this but to be fair, I don't usually have it hooked up with the truck off

    Are you using the map sensor built into the MapECU or an external sensor? Did the sensor cal selection accidentally get changed?

    Hey Everyone, Just trying to test the waters on what the hell I am doing with my 98 4runner with the 5VZ. I have a Brand new motor I am going to be throwing in it that is currently sitting on my stand in my garage. I want to turbo it and obviously the options for a manifold/header kit is limited to CX Racing. I am thinking that just in the meantime, purchasing just the header/downpipe kit. Capping off the Turbo and waste gate ports and then doing a lot more research on what turbo, injector, water/meth, and intercooler path to take from there.

    Right now it is lifted and has a rooftop tent and I occasionally pull a small utility trailer so I just want a little extra. At least for the header/manifold portion, sound like an appropriate route? I almost wanted to go with the whole kit from CX just for ease but at the same time, it is a must for reliability. I am not looking at doing anything more than 5psi for now but want to have the ability for more later.

    What are all your thoughts?

    my guess is I am beating the shit out of a dead horse on these questions lol
