That was basically all I was gonna do plus some head work. Still haven’t made up my mind on Goleby or LCE stuff

At what HP is the stock tranny a liability?

500hp is when it starts pushing fluid out the rear seal on the manual.

Edit: I forgot you're working with the 3rz. My above comment is regarding the r154 behind the 2tr.

Ha. yeah I blew up my w59 with a low boost ebay turbo. They won't like much more than 250whp. That is even pushing it. I probably didn't have my 550cc injectors in yet. The R155 is treating me well so far. Street guys have had the R series over 500whp. Just don't recommend kicking the clutch.

Any idea what the high HP 2TR guys are doing to solve that? I hope to be over that one day, so we might as well start planning now

From everything I've read, the Supra r153 had the same problem and you just have to add a breather to keep the pressure from building up that high. Also I think past the 500 mark they recommend the billet gear set that fits the r153/154

Thanks for the info. So would that be adding a breather to the case maybe since there is already one on the shifter base?

I will have to do some more reading on that now:thumbsup:

Are you 2 or 4wd? If you are 4wd I want to pick your brain about the 150f bell housing and transfer case swaps.

I'm just 2wd. You will need a r155 bell housing and lathe down the input shaft roughly 15mm to make a r150f fit.

If someone bolted a manual transfer to an r155f that is even easier than a r150 swap

Which version manual transfer case? I read the Russianman thread on shaving down the input shaft and there was another thread on w59 to R155 but I may have missed the point you are trying to make. I know where another manual donor truck is that is 3.4l. I could possibly give your idea a shot.

Just curious if a r150 manual transfer bolts up to a r155f. Then you don’t need to machine an input shaft down

    Same thing I was wondering.

I wouldn’t have any issues machining the shaft down, but I would rather bolt up and fit up the tyranny mount.

You could also check out Northwest Fab's EcoCrawler. That will allow you to bolt up pretty much any case you want, and you get double low. That's what im using to put an AWD FJ case behind my R156F

Going to try out this other type of prefilter. Tighter fit than the aem and almost half the price.

and now my r155 is leaking oil where the driveshaft plugs in. Probably just dirt and vibes killed the seal early.

I'd be curious to see if the extra stress from the heavier tires could be causing an increase in case pressure.

It's hard to say how warm it gets. The seal is 2017 so I got a few years on it. Probably just lube everything up and make sure my vent is clean. Funny how we were just talking about this.
