The sun just went behind the last hill at 730. 6 pm is about the earliest I can wrench. Going to skip tonight. Need to get to the junk yard which I'm dreading to do. Think a few local guys on here are going to help me

 

I'll gladly take 100+ in NM/AZ vs 85+ and 70%+ humidity here in VA. At least there sweating serves a purpose to cool you some. Here sweating just makes you wet.

 

Va is bad. I like my dry heat better. My problem is I work right near the coast and live inland. Only gets up to 75, but 105 at home. Had to wear a jacket at work on Tuesday, lol

Lol I'll go back to talking about turbos. How about that heat soak this summer? Feels like my car lost 30hp.

How's the tranny swap going?

 

Need to get to the junkyard for some missing parts and make custom mounts. It going to work, but trying to organize everything so I can knock it out quickly. I bottle all my mods up and do everything at once. Took a few month break.

 

Idling in traffic here, I have seen 170º F IAT in my Bimmer

That's the beauty of that car, designed from the ground up with enthusiasts in mind, it's literally designed to be modified from the factory.

With blower fans on the vents!

 

I'm looking into venting my hood but if there is a decently priced fiberglass hood with vents (but nothing over the top), I might grab one.

If I can get this to fit, I want to try to get a "cold" air intake:

Hannemann Fiberglass makes hoods as well, but their website is short on info/pictures. I think they're just scooped.

 

You wont get very much flow INTO a scoop on a tacomas hood

But, Louvers will definitely aid in extraction of heat.

 

Yup. You already have lots of airflow through the radiator into the space under the hood. You need vents on top to give that pressure someplace to go, and that forces the hot air out of the engine bay and allows cooler outside air to move in.
