I bought a large Derale 9000 series transmission cooler. I'm hoping if just the one fits I can measure and see if a second one will fit next to it. Then that should be plenty for the once IC in the truck.

Air/water IC are too often overlooked. Aussies have ran them for years to battle outback heat soak. I worked with a guy from Trinidad and they run them on nearly everything boosted. Trinidad is right there off the Venezuelan coast at sea level so it’s always hot and humid.

It's got some major advantages in packaging for sure, water can move more heat than air. I think for a street/wheeling truck it will be a good option. I didn't want to cut the shit out of my core support or fender aprons and I have a huge bumper in the way of where an air to air could ever fit. The IC core fits great in the engine bay, if I had a 98-04 truck I'd have zero problem fitting in a heat exchanger too.

Where are you planning to mount the reservoir? How much volume?

I have two spots in mind, I'm going to relocate my battery to the cab, so maybe there, but I also have tons of room on the pass fender too. Right now I got a little 1 quart inline resi that I will mount to the fan shroud, this will all get a version 2 but I need some boost cooling and I want to go camping so v1 is gonna be a bit small and hasty.

I don’t know the fluid capacity, but for an OEMish look a coolant reservoir could be used. This is what my B6 Audi has. It mounts just below hood level and curved slightly. Maybe even rig the sensor up to trip a low light alarm. Or custom build a box out of an ‘old’ street sign.

    Questions for the masses.

Put in the boost controller today and closed it all the way. I am now hitting 5 psi (4psi springs in WG), wow what a difference 2 psi makes ( was previously hitting 3-3.5). However, I noticed that sometimes my AFRs drop like they should, but sometimes they dont and stick around 14 for a bit (like legit few seconds) until they then decide to drop to 12.5-13. They also seem to get even lower if I pull all the way through 3rd and shift and boost in 4th....? Like 11.5-12. All of this is during pedal to the floor.

My first thoughts are that its potentially the fuel pump? which I haven't upgraded yet, so is still stock and 175k miles old. I also haven't put in the new fuel filter, but doubt its just that, just noting that it hasn't been replaced.

I know 5ish is about the limits without additional fuel mgt, so its not going any higher from there, and likely going back down to 3 until I sort out the below..

Also, dealing with an oil like down low some where... I don't think its my drain tube or bung but rather my pan...fuck...either messed up the FIPG putting it back up or not enough.. probably going to be dropping that here again in the near future to see whats up. If I stay out of boost it doesn't leak much but after some hard pulls back to back it starts up pretty good. Going to rig up the gopro tomorrow down there to see if I can catch the source on video... looking at it after its been flung all over the place is hard to locate the origination of it...

To save some grief when was the last compression test? Could potentially be some blow by into the crankcase but not too likely. As for leaning out are you still running original injectors?

There hasn't been one. Not too worried there honestly as it's only been owned by my family, driven nicely and maintenance up too date.

Leakage is all on the passenger side as well, so points to something I messed up bung or drain fitting wise but need to get video to see for sure. My thoughts went to pan around or near the bung because the wiring harness slightly above is where the worst of it is. Maybe some warpage in the pan in that area from welding that I didn't supplement enough fipg, but I don't recall any obvious warpage but didn't specifically check neither.

Yea original stock injectors still as well. Recently ran same tanks of injector cleaner pre turbo to prep but have thought about some new stock there too or sending these out for some cleaning. As I'm still stock ecu currently

Did you run a boost line to the fpr? If not that extra pressure in the cylinder is working against you and could be causing a lean out.

Also it may not help, but I'm positive it won't hurt to make sure you are subscribed to my cooking channel...

I did, referenced at the manifold where the original pcv line went. However it is tee'd there along with the bov reference maybe it needs a dedicated source?

Pcv and vent both route to catch can now.

Thinking more on that, I left the firewall side original. So no clamps, might be getting some leakage there causing issues...

Just concerned about the AFR at times. Seems mostly good other than every here and there a wot pull will stay around stoic longer than I would expect especially at 5psi on the gauge
