Aaaaand with PID control and spoola assist on it lights up like a supercharger and pulls away like a turbo vehicle.

I have company (visiting TW members) later this week, so I'll ask one to film for me. Today was a real treat, digging into Haltech closed loop boost control and adjusting PID control to help it reach target super fast was fun. I am in awe how fast this turbo lights up. It just wants to shoot for 10psi and above so bad haha. 9psi for now though, I have more stuff to work on right now

Oh this isn't the last stop on the tune... Just a stepping stone, good place to pause and fine tune what we have so far. It actually tickled 11 a few times during testing today. I'm sure of one thing though, even if you could spin the 5VZ SC up to 14psi, I'm making more power currently and wayyyyyy less heat. We didn't break 107° IAT today. One pull on a SC truck the other day had it in the 170° IAT range.

Man 14 would be a riot.
Looking forward to seeing how far you take it.
What kind of IATs are you seeing sitting idle with the hood closed

Sitting idle for a long time it'll come up to 115° but as soon as you move even a little or turn the AC on and idle up it comes down to 88°-91° and stays there.

How well are you figuring out the transient throttle?

90% of the time with how I have it set currently it is great, it's just the initial blip off idle that isn't stellar yet

I keep forgetting to order new exhaust manifold studs. I've been planning on getting the ARP set. Can someone confirm the size (or PN) for the 5vz

    10mm with a 1.25 thread?

LCE has a set of 12 studs at $27+shipping for the 5vz seems more than reasonable.
(im inclined to believe @Speedytech7 has a review on LCE's page for the studs.
    Screenshot_2023-06-16-13-04-13-83_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

ARP Chromoly studs through summit for about $65

ARP Stainless steel through summit are about $145.

If memory serves me right stainless steel and aluminum like to fuze making anti-seize
    Absolutely necessary

LCE is the ones I went with... but never put them in as I didn't have issues with my originals so I just kept them installed

Ive already reused the OEM studs on the drivers side once when the DT headers went in. they came with a set of bolts for the passenger side so those are still pretty new. I could probably get away with reusing it all again but I want something on hand if it doesn't go smoothly. Maybe send me that set you didn't use
    :spending:

The studs on the drivers side look a little abused from time and use

I want to do it right now! The rain we've been having has temperatures down nicely. I still haven't even got the IC mounted up :anonymous:

I wanted to have it done before a camping trip out in San Joan county that starts on the 29th of this month. Next weekend is my wife's birthday so my time line isn't looking great.
Driving the truck to work 5 days a week doesn't leave me with much of a window or desire to open up the proverbial can of worms either.

I nit pick at the small details like ARP studs while ignoring the bigger things like needing to building the down pipe once the turbo is actually in. Or like today I was productivity procrastinating by pulling weeds outside while the ground is soft from rain

haha I hear ya. Getting it done over a 2 even 3 day weekend would be tough for sure! I was glad I had other means to get around during all of my adventures during install time, still few things to get back around to as well now that I got the leakage situation resolved.
