Removing the airbag helps a ton. The wires between my adapter and HT plug are pretty short so I'm limited to where I could put it. No way could I fit the adapter and HT all in the OEM space. Having it up above the glovebox is also really nice for making any wiring changes.

 

Your adapter is unique, the first I've seen from SNP that isn't a Boomslang (or at least doesn't look like their work in the slightest)

 

yea I think they might actually make these ones in house for whatever reason. All the other ones have green wires which seem to be the norm for the boomslang harnesses.
Do you have much longer leads between the adapter and HT plug on yours?

 

yeah mine are about 10" long... and I purchased it direct from boomslang, but the build style, parts, and labeling are identical to Mike's which came from SNP.

 

Hmm ya that length would make things a lot easier for me.
You would think that the people that put together these kits would take that into consideration when selling a kit. It's one of those things that nobody talks about and was pretty annoying to find a solution for when you anticipated it just being a plug 'n play. The ECU location doesn't change on these trucks so wouldn't be too much work to determine what length wires are needed to be able to mount the ECU in the factory location or somewhere that makes sense. Then maybe even include a small adapter bracket or something to do what you did with the OEM ECU tray.

 

Honestly you're right it would be super easy to 3d scan and then remove some of the fat to print a bracket to do what I did. The lengths are annoying even on mine but I don't have an airbag to contend with.

 

Did you also remove the passenger airbag?

 

95-97 don't have them, just driver

Exactly how I did mine, right beside the ECM

 

I think the welds were a little too hot but if I turned the wire speed or temperature down it wasn't happy at all.
I still need to add the O² bungs and figured out how I'll connect it to the catalytic converter but today me and the misses woke up feeling pretty sick so it might have to wait

 

Anything I should know about mounting the O² sensors? I know they should be on the top half of the pipe to keep them dry from condensation and the guage instructions say to have the Wideband at least 24" from the Turbo I feel like I remember seeing a few of the sensors much closer to the turbo to help keep them hot enough inside the larger diameter pipes.

I did fill the downpipe with water to check for leaks and everything stayed dry on the outside so I'm happy about that
