Figured it was about time for a better air oil separator on my rig. This one should flow more and catch more than the quickie one I made awhile back. Just need some of that expanded stainless dish washing scrubber in the top before the cap and mount.

Thanks! Just trying to make the oil vapor hit lots of different surfaces while still maintaining air flow with what is laying around.

I’ve got one like this on a 5gal bucket I rig up my shop vac. It collects maybe 90% of anything sucked up including water. If you’ve got the room to run something similar and scaled down I’d image it’d work wonders.

    Well, it rabbit holed.

Had to take the intake off to weld the larger tube on for the catch can line. Figured while I had it off might as well throw the lil spoolie guy on there. Direct fit Gt3076r, just had to dent the oil drain tube a bit. Dang does it spool quicker! Nice little noise too.

Just a little side note for my long haul Audi turbo. Two trips ago into WTX the ambient temps were fairly high pushing 90-95*F. With the rather large intercooler I have intake temps have been a consistent 10-15*F over ambient. This trip is anywhere from 13-15hrs for me to make in a run. When I stop for gas I have the habit of not turning off my vehicle and I was able to watch the IATs climb to over 130* during a single fill up at my halfway+ point. Determined to reduce this I hit Amazon and re-engineered my water/meth injection. I added a couple of ‘Y’s and a valve. The valve I can crack open and allow just a small amount of fluid to be vacuumed into the intake. I used it this last trip out there and static IATs were no more than at cruising speed. It consumed about 3/4gal for close to 800miles traveled. …including a couple of roll races.

So, I ‘Y’ed in a valve to slightly meter in some water/meth with a light vacuum to combat long term heat soak of the entire intake system. I will note that the IM was hot AF prior to this epiphany and after the experiment trip it was no warmer than the fender. On a vac it sucks a little in but at 0 it won’t until my trigger for the pump is tripped at 20psi. But the onset with this diesel turbo is rather rapid so no issues encountered yet. Knocking around town I can simply close the valve.

So I now get 45 minutes per month to work on my truck... Most of which is spent looking for a 10mm, but I did get the passenger side valve cover off and can see... Pretty much nothing helpful... But you can still hear water gurgling on my exhaust valves. This is rotating my engine from lock to lock https://youtube.com/shorts/XWfktbFPhlk?si=HZxZOrULRouAEtvS

Looking for some ideas, currently stuck in green river WY.

Getting a lean code (po171) and long term fuel trim is at 30% in closed loop keeping afr at 14.7. As soon as it sees open loop it goes stupid lean, 18 afr. Can't see any vac leaks anywhere.

    Any other ideas?

    Current train of thought...

Closed loop uses maf sensor and o2 sensor to adjust fueling. If maf is having an issue the o2 will correct the fueling.

When it hits open loop it's relying 100% of maf readings.

So if the maf is malfunctioning and reading less air than what is really going into the engine the o2 sensor is correcting it when in closed loop. As soon as it hits open it doesn't have the o2 to rely on. So if everything is good in the intake it's going to be feeding a lot of air that the maf isn't registering causing it to lean out because it is not adding enough fuel.

    Plausible.

    What management are you on?

    Any codes?

Unplug maf and run limp mode?

Feel the wires next to the driver seat assuming you can get it to run long enough. If they are hot then the fuel pump isn't getting enough juice.

All just ideas, hopefully something triggers an idea and you get on the road ok.

    Factory ecu.

    P0171

I'll check the wires. Leaning away from fuel as it seems to meet demand from the o2 feedback. However, my fuel light and meter were reading empty at one point and I had at least a 1/4 left in the tank.

Ha sorry, had a screaming baby over here.

Vac leak would be another go to but you mentioned that seemed fine. I would still try to test all hose connections by pulling/prying on them. Try tightening them too. Same with exhaust/o2.
