Yeah when I went to order the summit one it was out of stock.
I have the Hypergate 45 on my other 2rz turbo setup in my 85 truggy, so I have additional springs to adjust the WG release pressure.

Realized I didn't have a coolant overflow.. built one for grins! Also, more confirmation about spool on the 3rz. It's fantastic and smooth with the 3067

Is there any detriment to running a different diameter intake from the Turbo to the throttle body?

Looks like mine may start at 2" and have to increase to 2.75 at the TB.

The smallest diameter is your choke point realistically. 2.5" charge piping is pretty close to the throttle body which is about 2.75" od. 2.5" charge piping is pretty much the standard size for piping until you get to pretty big power

Pretty sure that is common. I think the most important part is MAF tube being the same as the throttle body.

I'm running a 38mm Precision gate without issues at 5 psi. Any particular reason you guys are running such a large gate?

I had boost creep on my 38mm gate, swapped to a 44mm gate, and rock steady boost control at any desired pressure. The size of wastegate needed is dependant on a lot of variables. Manifold design, turbine housing size, turbine wheel size, exhaust size, tune to an extent... ill always recommend bigger on the wastegate because it really sucks to buy twice if your combo likes to creep. Some setups have no problem. Zane's 38mm gate can hold 2.5psi on his 5vz. There isn't really a price difference between 38 and 44 usually so why not just go with the 44?

Makes sense, suprised you had creep. Feel like my. 48 turbine housing would bottleneck mine and force more through the gate than it can handle but it holds steady.

We have different manifolds, turbos, tunes, and full exhausts. Yours could be restrictive on the factory ECU with conservative timing, where mine is VERY free flowing with a dyno dialed timing map. Very different cases. Mine is a dual ball bearing, inconel exhaust wheel, and billet compressor wheel, so it's very light and responsive to exhaust flow. It would suck if I recommended a 38 to someone, they got it, and it had boost creep. So I recommend 44's since it will cover MOST setups, where a 38 has more chance of not working at low boost.

Sounds like an expensive turbo. How much did that run you?

$649, It's a pulsar 3067. They are rock solid so far(tons of people I know running them, including a buddy running 65psi through his on a k20 drag civic) and very affordable. I just got their gen 3 3584 for my FD RX7 build as well.

Nice. That's not as bad as I would have guessed.

Id like to run 2.5 tube but may have some clearance issues with my radiator/SPAL fan leaned back as far as it is and the front drive accessories.

Ill have a 2.75 130 degree Ell of the TB that has to sneak through there and reduce down to connect to the turbo.

I need to get the rest of my parts in, Turbo manifold and Turbo and see how it goes. Not the best pic but a reference nonetheless.

You could snag one of those 2.5" super tight radius doughnuts to cut for some charge piping. Those things are crazy for tight spaces. Also, you can usually stretch a 2.5" coupler onto the throttle body just fine. That's what I did, so no reducer needed

I think it may work out with the 2.7 reducer to the 2". I should be able to sneak the intake tube behind the radiator, clearing the SPAL fan and in front of the accessory drive. I need a few more pieces to show up. The 3071 came in last week and the GLFab manifold came in yesterday.
Got it mocked up last night, added a yellow 5lb spring to the WG to bring the pressure to 12psi. Spacer on the flange is in to clear the coil packs in front of the air filter.

Id suggest a 5psi spring and a 3 port boost controller to turn the boost up to 12psi. That way you have an easy option to turn it down. I run a 5psi spring in mine and easily turn it up to 15psi

I have a TS manual boost controller as well. I'm still a ways off from firing this up, but I can definitely remove a spring and plumb that in easily.

I still need to get that 3 port boost controller back in the truck and pull the manual TS controller out. It's silly not using it when it's sitting on the shelf and already wired up
