That's the dream I have the shop space to do it I just need to look into a parts list and get a realistic idea on time

Even a 1JZ motor wouldn't be too bad. Be wary of those high horsepower engine swaps, I've seen too many horror stories about getting a good deal when in reality they need to have the head milled or replace all the Pistons and hardware cause the previous owner beat the brakes off of it.

Yeah a2jz or engine out of a Lexus would be ideal At first I was looking ls but fuck that. Putting a chevy in a Toyota is almost as bad as driving a jeep

So I've been pretty broke recovering from Moab and doing my first week of training at the new job. Today I just repainted the skid covering all the cuts from Moab. I did it quick because I plan on scratching it a lot this summer/fall hopefully. IMG_0878.jpgI really like the silver contrast on my otherwise murdered out taco. But am strongly considering gold for my next repaint... I think it could add a little eye candy with the black.

Well after a lot of research and pricing issues along with availability it looks like I'll be going with a LS 4.8.. I wanted to keep it all yota but the availability just isn't the same... I can do full ls engine, harness, tranny and tcase for 3500 or less so it's more than likely that's my route. I'm gonna go with the 4.8 because it revs faster and higher than the 5.3 but without too much of a loss in torque. If I added a mild cam it could likely hit 400 with no boost so I am okay with the smaller displacement it will still be a massive upgrade from the 2.7. If anyone has any experience and wants to lend a hand or comment some tips feel free I just put an order in for a re manufactured transmission from lsx4u

also timeline for the swap is aquire and clean up/upgrade parts over the summer then plan to swap around Sept/Oct. I want to have all my ducks in a row before I pull the 2.7 to minimize downtime of the truck. It's not needed to be my daily anymore but I have too much fun in it to see it apart all summer. Hopefully once I pull the engine I can add mounts and place engine and tranny an tcase in within a week send out measurements for new drive shafts then start working on the exhaust... if all goes perfect a shake down run in a month but two months is more likely. Then I will likely need to fine tune/ clean things up for a while

What are the gains you think you will see from the LS?

I'm going with the 4.8 because it can rev up to 7k easy so it's a great lightish platform to boost down the road
