I've never tuned on a haltech but tuning with Nistune was super intuitive and writing a whole fuel table was a really satisfying experience, plus uploading it while driving and then instantly testing it.... so cool. I miss that 300zx now haha

Ya I’m really looking forward to it I’m an electrical engineer so I’ve been pretty fascinated with the tuning and ecus for a while now I’m excited to finally tey my hand at it.

It is rewarding. Is the Haltech unit you've got something that is plug and play or are you making harnesses and such for it too? I might be interested in something like that either way but if it is plug and play I'd just start with it because my ECU is about as smart as a rock.

Congrats on the house! I'll have a look at paradise's store, Haltech unit would be great compared to my OEM ECU that is good to about 4.5PSI before it retards the ignition too much and dies.

Thank you, not gonna lie I hated life during the process (homes are so fing expensive in the northeast) it was beyond stressful but once I closed I’m so happy I rolled with the punches and now I’m getting both floors ready I’ll live upstairs and rent the first floor

1700 cc! Shooting for that 1000 hp? I'm very curious to see how the response of this turns out for an offroad type of vehicle. Building a forged 5vz is just way too expensive so this might be the best cost option for that middle ground 400-600 whp range but for me it'll come down to how it performs in the mid and high range.

One day I’ll kiss 1000hp I plan to push the stock motor to its limit slowly bumping the boost every few months and practicing the retune in 6-10 months I’ll buy a spare block and start building it....

Yeah definitely it only being one head and four pistons makes it alot cheaper to build than a v6 and I’ve read that the cost to hit 1000hp is actually less on the 4cyl than the 5vz I guess it makes sense less stress on the crankshaft so you can pump in the psi and up the rpms a little bit more on the stock crank when i think the 5vz crank is questionable to 1000.

Good man. The changes I made with the 4.30’s and going to a 32” AT tire has better suited my uses. Truck drives smooth

I bet. I remember when I was doing my turbo setup, it took about a month and I didn’t even remember how it felt beforehand. Those 4.88’s will make a huge difference with your 33’s. So much More Low end torque.

Yeah i was chugging along but i just closed on a multifamily the other week so I haven’t had much free time as of late. The oast real time consuming thing is the fuel line setup and down pipe i think the intake shouldn’t be too bad

Wooord. I have this week off, but it’s blowing by quickly!

You’ll have to show me your new place.

Give me a few days heads up and I’ll be able to come by for an afternoon / evening or a weekend day

Jcyr sounds like quite an adventure(the build as well as Utah). So you had open diffs on that wheeling in Utah? These little trucks really kick it off road. I haven't done much in that regard since I bought mine in March '17 but looking forward.

Yeah all of Moab was open/open the only time it got tricky was the off center multiple ledge stuff where it was hard that keep solid traction on atleast 3 wheels. But i wheeled with a fully locked heep and honestly the stuff i got stuck on they really didn’t breeze through either

Some major progress lately got the injectors and rail all set up and bolted the stock intake back together. Missing a few fittings to finish the fuel lines but they are on order!!! Then its plum the intake and weld the exhaust and wire the haltech then vrooommmmm8DBAB66F-B511-4A63-8894-456D6C1140F8.jpg
