This killed me lol. I hate when people say how smart they are. They arent, they just have good eyes thats all they've got going for them.

Back at the house . 5.54 miles according to my fit bit . Got behind some birds on the roost. Couple hundred yards . 2 birds I think and heard another across the road from me . I was in the woods between them and a cut green field they went to last time I saw them.I didn’t want to be on top of them this time .and last time they flew in the direction were I was this morning . They gobbled on their own and after I set up and gave a few tree yelps they gobbled back . 5 minutes later 2 friggen cannon blasts over the hill . I think somebody I know shot at least one out of the tree . After that I heard nothing but a hen answer me around 1030

I dont think its illegal but the hunters ed teach its unethical here.

 

For the last 30yrs, I have said, "turkeys ain't smart...they're scared, of everything."
And, you are quite correct, they have great eyesight. In fact, it is their best defense...that's why I have never, and will never, hunt from a tent. I want the turkey to have all his defenses intact. I still have a big advantage since I have a shotgun.

 

I think it is illegal. 99% sure I know who did it because where the birds were roosted is near his house but not his property. He told me a couple weeks ago he was calling to them from his garage. He has been in trouble for jacking deer too . He is an ass hole . Same guy that rides his ATV all over every one else’s property and when you confront him he says he is lost this hill ain’t that big

 

Everybody is trying to eat them, I'd be scared too. I just kinda prefer shooting deer tbh (and they taste better) , but that was one of the funnest turkey hunts I've been on.

they have a lot of rules here for hunting that are stupid...the biggest one is no lighted nocks on arrows...

Me too, was just planning to pick up my fishing license this weekend.

 

Rained all day before I got mine in the evening. I swear its rained everyday at least once this summer.

I wish I could get more than one bird. I know they didn't sell all the left over licenses in Michigan.

 

100% agree with you. Plenty of birds here in Michigan, doesn't seem right to only allow one tag. But the DNR are the professionals, hopefully they know what they are doing with their surveys.

 

Is that a Brook? I have literally been fishing since I quit deer hunting. They stock all winter here in VA. Also been bass fishing quite a bit. In a June I’m gonna hit my river spots in my kayak finally!!!
