Sure fire way to tell a brook is it is the only river trout that swims east of bull trout range that has light spots on a darker background. Browns and rainbows have dark spots on a lighter background. Hope that helps lol

 

One of my best friends lives near Cadillac and he sends me pics and videos of turkeys. Looks to me like Michigan has WAY more turkeys than South Carolina. I can't imagine only being allowed one gobbler per season.

 

They're everywhere here. You'll be baffled because the DNR will not allow you to even hunt them in certain counties some seasons. I see hundreds of birds during deer season.

 

Of course they are haha!

 

I’ve seen flocks here of 75- 100+ in the winter . Your allowed 2 Toms in the spring ,one a day . Back in March about 250 yards from my front yard there were 12 long beards in one group and a flock near them of about 50 other birds .

It's crazy how you see tons of birds when you can't hunt them, then come hunting season they all disappear or stay just beyond your property line.

 

I came close a few times on the property I have permission but just couldn’t get it done . One came in silent right in front of me but behind a huge oak and he busted me . Another came in within 20 yards and only saw his head for a split second and he was gone . It’s even tougher with my vision the way it is right now . Have to keep my right eye closed or I have double vision

 

I hunted a single bird for five days this past season and couldn't get him close enough for a shot. Another hunter and his buddy come in the following week and hunt hard the same area all week and finally kill him. I think the only way they knew the area had birds was that they had seen my truck parked there every morning day after day, but at least the guy respected my hunt and didn't try moving in on me when I was there actually hunting.

 

i think they are the ones that were spotlighting when they were kids complaining about how they should change the laws and complaining about Fish and game wardens...then they become one

 

Put the turkey hunting gear and clothes away today . Last day tomorrow . Of course it’s going to be nice , 2 Dr appointments tomorrow . So I came close a few times but no go . I will call this spring practice since I haven’t turkey hunted since 2004 . Maybe I will try my luck this fall ,never tried fall turkey. Picking up a new to me 4 wheeler next week so I can now go a little crazy with food plots now !

I usually get one in the fall also, only because Im out on my atv more

 

Anyone use Rhino popups? Trying to decide on one. 3 person, needs to be easy to set up and csrry.

 

So as I expected my right eye issue is due to the capsule that holds the lens has clouded up . Easy fix ,takes about 60 seconds . So waiting on a phone call Monday to schedule the procedure ​
