For the past two weeks, my drl lights don't work. I tried looking for a wiring diagram, but all are for headlight drl. I took it to the dealer and he refused to work on it because I added an external fuse block for my accessories that I added to the truck and he says it voids warranty, the truck is only 6 months old. can anybody help. thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum! Start with checking fuses and relays and if they are all good go check connections points especially where you connected in your new fuse block. By the way, not all dealers will play the void the warranty card so check around. Good Luck!

So your turn signals still work right? If so make sure you didn’t accidentally turn off the DRL in the light settings on the radio. I’ve attached the Toyota diagram that includes the DRL.

My DRL stays off, but comes on with low beams dimly, and my blinker has a rapid clicking rate and doesn't actually work in the front. At first I thought it was a dying bulb but now I feel like it's electrical since it comes on with the headlights...

Honestly, if you need to take it in for warranty work, remove ANY aftermarket mods on or near the system that will be looked at. One of my license plate lights was filling with condensation and they tried to blame it on my putting LED bulbs in. After arguing and citing federal law, they fixed it. When it happened again with the same light, I removed the LEDs before bringing it in. No issues.

Also, removing your add-ons may help you self-diagnose.

Well I got out there and took out my LED high/lows and that did nothing. I pulled the blinker bulb out again and inspected the contacts, couldn't find anything, put it back in, and it worked this time. Second time inspecting it, not sure what I did, works fine now. Happened following an off-road event, maybe I didn't jiggle the bulb in securely after my last check. I tried to replicate the problem by messing with the contacts and bulb but I could not. I'll take it

The problem came back. DRL don't work on both, and only right blinker works. Hoping Toyota will take care of it under warranty

Here’s a link explaining your consumer rights and the federal regulation that protects you if anyone is denied warranty work from a dealer:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mods-vs-manufacturer’s-warranties.523546/#post-16644662

Edit: and a good Wikipedia definition of the act itself: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson–Moss_Warranty_Act

One interesting part of this is that the act requires that manufacturers can’t demand that you use OEM parts on your vehicle - and that they must prove that a consumer causes damage if they want to void a warranty. So the OP’s dealer broke the law by simply refusing to repair his DRL’s since he didn’t prove how the accessory fuse panel damaged anything.

See my post above... good luck with this, federal law may be on your side!

I realize that the law is on our side, but you need to weigh:

    1. Taking the time to remove and reinstall your aftermarket parts and avoid the whole hassle.
    2. Taking the time and/or money to fight this in court, not to mention arguing with the dealer.

Which would any of us prefer for an issue this small?

This is actually really important to me that I get it fixed as soon as possible, since my blinkers don't work on my left hand turns(obviously dangerous). If the dealership gives me shit over my BHLM, which I expect, I'll do my best to cite federal law but I doubt I would go to court over it. I guess it really depends on how much it would cost to fix without warranty if they can even offer me a quote. I can't imagine it would be overly expensive, but you never know with these things...

Good point- nothing will get you black listed faster than quoting federal laws to them - flesheatingvirus is also right, removing the aftermarket parts, if it’s easy enough, may be a lot easier than doing it the hard way!

If it is easy enough, l would pull the add on fuseblock before going to the Dealer, that could also help in the troubleshooting process

At the dealership now. Took out my fuse block which was a bitch, also disconnected everything else from battery terminal, took off my roof light bar(they gave me trouble over it last time) and took out LED bulbs in headlight back to stock. Did what I can, hoping for the best. Been about three hours so far, it's a long one. Glad I brought homework.

I was there for about 4 hours, and appearently all they did was change the bulb on the driver side, and both DRL and turn signals now work. Not sure why it took four hours, maybe they were checking for other electrical problems. Either way, they covered the cost under wareenty and even the bulbs (which I don't think are warrantied). Overall great experience with Toyota again.

Not too sure how that worked out, but I think I drank more than .03 cents in coffee while I was there so I'll take the loss

i hooked up the lights after they stopped working, i hooked up directly to the battery, so all i would have to do is pull the cables off of the batteries. i have a solenoid to supply power to the fuse block, so it wont drain my battery, so its off when not in use. the turn signals are all working, just not the drls
